Level II Indication Plotting Exercise Number One.

Please read all questions carefully! Question 1: You have found an indication using a 1.5 Mhz 2(10x18mm) 60 RL transducer. Your procedure is PDI-UT-2 for Austenitic piping welds. In accordance with this PDI examination you are required to examine the lower one third of the material plus an area of beyond the weld toes. The weld is 1 wide, ground flush and the material is 1 in thickness. The indication has a sound path of 1.5 and the transducer exit point is 1.9 from the weld centerline. In accordance with this PDI examination you are required to examine the lower one third of the material plus an area of beyond the weld toes. The weld is 1.5 wide, ground flush and the material is 1.25 in thickness. You have used your 0 and detected counter-bore where from half an inch each side of the weld centerline the thickness is now 1 with a 45 taper down to the original wall thickness. The indication has a sound path of 1.125 and the transducer exit point is 1.7 from the weld centerline. You have located the indication with your transducer on the upstream side looking downstream.
