COMPANY PROFILE

Crocs, Inc. is a shoe manufacturer founded by 3 friends - Scott Seamans, Lyndon "Duke" Hanson, and George Boedecker, Jr. to produce and distribute a foam design acquired from a Quebec company called Foam Creations. The shoe had originally been developed as a spa shoe. The first model produced by Crocs, the Beach, was unveiled in 2002 at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show in Florida, and sold out the 200 pairs produced at that time. Crocs were the title sponsor of the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Tour from 2006 through the 2009 season. Same model of Crocs are available in different colours. In June 2004, Crocs purchased Foam Creations and their manufacturing operations to secure exclusive rights to the proprietary foam resin called Croslite. The foam forms itself to a wearer's feet and offers purported medical benefits, according to a number of podiatrists. Crocs hold one patent covering various utility aspects of its footwear, U.S. Patent No. 6993858 B2 issued February 7, 2006, and three design patents covering various ornamental aspects, U.S. Patent Nos. D517788, D517789, and D517790 issued on March 28, 2006. As of 2007, the company had applied to register "Crocs" and the Crocs logo as trademarks in over 40 jurisdictions around the world, including the U.S.; many such applications were pending approval. Crocs also extended the scope of their trademark registrations and applications for both the Crocs mark and logo to cover non-footwear products such as sunglasses, goggles, knee pads, watches, luggage, and some of their internet sales activities. Crocs announced in 2006 that it filed complaints with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and the U.S. Federal District Court against 11 companies that manufacture, import or distribute products, called "croc-offs" that Crocs believes infringe its patents. Seizures of fake crocs occurred in 2007 in the Philippines and Denmark, and were under litigation in South Africa. In 2007 the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission requested a voluntary recall of Croc-like clogs due to a potential choking hazard involving detaching plastic rivets. Brands which produce Croc-like shoes include Airwalk, Poliwalks, USA Dawgs/Doggers, Nothinz, Veggies etc. Versions of the Croc style clogs have appeared in children's fashion catalogues, usually under their own name brands or as no names. Other knock-offs are in discount stores, amusement park stores, beach stores, department stores, and superstores

Born in Boulder, Colo. as a simple, comfortable boat shoe, today Crocs footwear can be found across the globe and in more than 120 styles for men, women and children. With distinct collections, Crocs offers colorful, lightweight comfort for any occasion and every season. All Crocs shoes are uniquely designed and manufactured using the company's proprietary closed-cell resin, Croslite, a technology that gives each pair of shoes the soft, comfortable, lightweight, non-marking and odor-resistant qualities that Crocs wearers know and love. Crocs footwear is ideal for casual wear, as well as for professional use and recreational activities. More than 100 million pairs of Crocs footwear have been sold. So what are you waiting for? PRODUCT PROFILE

Crocs are made in a variety of styles. They are usually manufactured in Crocs facilities in Canada and Mexico, and contract manufacturers in Italy, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and China. The shoes are produced in an array of colours depending on the model. The Beach and Cayman styles are available in more than 20 colours; most other styles are produced in a palette of four to six colours or two-colour combinations. Crocs also sell other fashion accessories. Jibbitz are decorations which can be clipped to the ventilation holes in the shoes. These include designs, mainly aimed at children, which feature Disney characters. The company has also released a line of purses in a variety of colours. A "Fuzz Collection" with removable woolly liners extends the range into winter wear. In 2008 the company entered the golf shoe marketplace, acquiring golf shoe manufacturer Bite Footwear. A Croc-styled pair of golf shoes, the Ace, was introduced.

Health and safety

Some Crocs shoes were tested and recommended by the U.S. Ergonomics company in 2005 and were accepted by the American Podiatric Medical Association in 2009. In 2008, the U.S. government Centres for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved a model of Crocs with moulded insoles as diabetic footwear, to help reduce foot injuries. Footwear such as Crocs and flip-flops came under scrutiny in 2006 in the U.S. and 2008 in Japan when children suffered injuries after the shoes became caught in escalator mechanisms. This was due to the soft shoe material combined with the smaller size of children's feet. In 2008, Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry, after receiving 65 complaints of injuries, requested that Crocs change its design. Internationally, some healthcare facilities introduced policies in 2007 regulating Crocs. Rapid City Regional Hospital in South Dakota changed its dress code to prohibit the sandal variants and those with holes, citing safety concerns, but allowed closed-top "Professional" and the healthcare-focused "Rx" Crocs to be worn. Over one hundred hospitals in Canada were advised to implement similar policies. Blekinge and Karolinska University hospitals in Sweden banned the wearing of "Forsberg slippers" (Foppatofflor) by staff, due to high voltage static

electricity build up which was observed to interfere with electronic equipment. City hospitals in Vienna, Austria announced banning Crocs, often worn by nursing staff, to comply with antistatic requirements. Crocs announced the Fuse and two others in 2009, formulated to dissipate static electricity in accordance with European standard EN ISO 20347:2004 (E), for use in the medical sector.

FASHION
Opinions are polarized about Crocs shoes; many regard them as comfortable and colourfully decorated, others see them as a fashion disaster, and a subculture has emerged of vocal opponents of the shoes. A Washington Post article described the phenomenon: "Nor is the fashion world enamoured of Crocs. Though their maker touts their 'ultra-hip Italian styling,' lots of folks find them hideous Tim Gunn, fashion consultant, told Time Magazine, "...the Croc - it looks like a plastic hoof. How can you take that seriously? A blog named "I Hate Crocs dot com" follows opposition to the original "luridly coloured Swiss cheese clog-

footwear". The Facebook group "I Don't Care How Comfortable Crocs Are, You Look like a Dumbass", dedicated to eliminating the shoes, has over 1.4 million "likers" as of July 2010 and 1.6 million as of November 2011.

Media
he shoes have been targets of satire: on Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher called for a "New rule: stop wearing plastic shoes," over a photo of Crocs and The Daily Show "Senior Public Restroom Correspondent" Rob Corddry, following up on the Senator Larry Craig June 2007 lewd conduct arrest, "reported" that anyone wearing Crocs is signalling "anything goes." Commentators have noted that social networking sites are collectively allowing individuals to share their distaste for Crocs. Crocs are #6 on the "Worst" list of Maxim's "The 10 Best & Worst Things to Happen to Men in 2007." In 2007, then-President George W. Bush wore black Crocs with socks publicly. In August 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama was spotted wearing Crocs with her daughter In late 2009, the company changed marketing direction, away from fashion and towards comfort, betting that their long-term prospects would be best served by appealing to workers who spend a lot of time .

CHAPTER-3

LITERATURE REVIEW WHAT IS STRESS?

You would think that defining stress would be relatively easy yet those who have spent most of their professional lives studying it still have trouble defining the term. Despite efforts over the last half-century to define the term, no satisfactory definition term, no satisfactory definition Defining stress is much like defining happiness everyone knows what it is, but no one can agree on a definition essentially, stress is the emotional and physical response you experience when you perceive an imbalance between demands placed on you and your resources at a time when coping is important What this means is that you experience stress whenever you are faced with an event or situation that you perceive as challenging to your ability to cope. If you see the event or situation as only mildly challenging, you will probably feel only a little stress; however, if you perceive the situation or event as threatening or overwhelming your coping abilities, you will probably feel a lot of stress. Importantly your perception of how negative an outcome could be will significantly determine what degree of stress you experience. So, having to wait for a bus when you have all the time in the world triggers only a little stress. Waiting for that same bus when you are running late for an appointment trigger much more stress. The difference between the demands of the situation and your perception of how well you can cope with that situation is what determines how much stress you will feel.

Definition of stress management:

Stress management is the alteration of stress and especially chronic stress often for the purpose of improving everyday functioning. Stress produces numerous symptoms which vary according to persons, situations, and severity. These can include physical health decline as well as depression. According to the St. Louis Psychologists and Counseling Information and Referral, the process of stress management is one of the keys to a happy and successful life in modern society. Although life provides numerous demands that can prove difficult to handle, stress management is the best way to manage anxiety and maintain overall well-being. More information is provided below on how to measure stress levels, learn about stress management models and practice techniques that will help to reduce stress and promote a positive lifestyle.

HISTORICAL FOUNDATION

Walter Cannon and Hans Selye used animal studies to establish the earliest scientific basis for the study of stress. They measured the physiological responses of animals to external pressures, such as heat and cold, prolonged restraint, and surgical procedures, and then extrapolated from these studies to human beings. Subsequent studies of stress in humans by Richard Rae and others established the view that stress is caused by distinct, measureable life stressors, and further, that these life stressors can be ranked by the median degree of stress they produce (leading to the Holmes and Rae Stress Scale). Thus, stress was traditionally conceptualized to be a result of external insults beyond the control of those experiencing the stress. More recently, however, it has been argued that external

circumstances do not have any intrinsic capacity to produce stress, but instead their effect is mediated by the individual's perceptions, capacities, and understanding.

TYPE OF STRESS MANAGEMENT

CHRONIC MEANS- adjective: being long-lasting and recurrent or characterized by

long suffering ("Chronic indigestion") adjective: having a habit of long standing ("A chronic smoker")

ACUTE MEANS- having or experiencing a rapid onset and short but severe course
("Acute adjective: extremely sharp or intense ("Acute pain") appendicitis")

EUSTRESS

MEANS-(Good

Stress)

stress that is deemed healthful or giving one the feeling of fulfillment

DISTRESS

MEANS- (Bad

Stress)

great pain, anxiety, or sorrow; acute physical or mental suffering; affliction; trouble. a state of extreme necessity or misfortune.

The "Four Quadrant Stress Grid" uses a simple, well-known color-coding system to rate the four main types of stress. Green means good or go, yellow means proceed with caution and red means stop or bad.

CHRONIC EUSTRESS:

Quadrant One is known as Chronic Eustress or long lasting, recurrent good stress. This is by far, the very best of the types of stress out there. This quadrant should be every person's goal in life. To achieve total and permanent health and wellness, we should all work as hard as possible to stay in this quadrant. Be creative, be aggressive and be consistent because this is the quadrant where "real" quality of life exists. If things happen, in life, that temporarily take you out of this quadrant, then that is OK, but every effort should be made to deal with the problem and get back to quadrant one as soon as possible. Words like fun, happiness, peace, joy, laughter, spirit, and love exist in this quadrant. When we are in a state of chronic eustress, our bodies have very high levels of the feel good hormones like Dopamine and Oxytocin. These hormones make it possible for us to have high levels of selfesteem and to have really strong relationships in all areas of your life, whether they be romantic, parental or work-related. If you have been married a long time and the shiny newness has worn off, all you need to do is get into this quadrant again and it will feel like a honeymoon all over again.
ACUTE EUSTRESS:

Quadrant Two is known as Acute Eustress or rapid onset, short, intense good stress. On a 'types of stress' scale of 1-10, with 1 being bad and 10 being good, this quadrant sits at about 6-7. When you get some really fantastic news or you are engaged in a feel great workout or when something really wonderful happens to you, you experience this kind of stress. The body is temporarily, intensely and quickly flooded with feel good hormones like Dopamine and Oxytocin. This type of stress is desirable and it does a body good to experience this type of stress often.

ACUTE DISTRESS: Quadrant Three is known as Acute Distress or rapid onset, short, intense bad stress. As far as types of stress go, this one is no fun but is not terribly dangerous and in fact it can save your life. This type of stress happens when we feel shocked or threatened and our fight or flight stress response system kicks into gear. Our bodies are flooded with emergency response hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones allow us to be alert and have increased strength, endurance and energy, thereby allowing us to respond to imminent danger. This type of stress comes from things like a car accident or if you are attacked or if you feel extreme fear. While this type of stress is classified as a bad stress, it is not dangerous because it does not last a long time and the body will wash away these extra hormones when the danger or threat has passed. This stress helps us to survive. CHRONIC DISTRESS: Quadrant Four is known as Chronic Distress or long lasting, recurrent bad stress. This is by far the worst of the types of stress in our lives. Chronic distress is the cause of most peoples' problems. With this kind of stress, your body is constantly flooded with emergency response hormones like Cortical and Adrenaline. When your Endocrine System is over-used to this extent, things begin to malfunction. It's just like your Pancreas, which becomes worn out when we constantly over use it by spiking our blood sugar several times each day. Your Pancreas was never intended to process that much sugar and your Endocrine System was never intended to process that much hormonal activity. When we stay in a state of chronic distress all the time, we overproduce the emergency response hormones and we, significantly, under-produce the feel good hormones. Every effort should be made to get out and stay out of this quadrant at all cost. Do whatever you have to do. Change your expectations, change your job, get out of a bad relationship, ask for help, pray to a higher power if you need to, but get out of this quadrant NOW! If you stay here for long, you will develop Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and a whole host of other illnesses. Oh and by the way - you will very likely gain a lot of weight and get very fat. All these diseases and problems come from a messed up Endocrine System just the same as Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome come from a messed up Pancreas.

POTENTIAL SOURCE OF STRESS:

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTOR: just as environment uncertainty influence the

design of an organizations structure, it also influence stress level among employees in the organization.

ORGANISATIONAL

FACTOR: there is no shortage of factor within an

organization that can causes stress pressure to avoid error or complete tasks in a limited time, work overload, a demanding and incentive boss and unpleasant coworkers are a few examples.

PERSONAL FACTOR: The typical individual work about 40 to 50 hours a

week but the experience and problems that people encounter in the other 120 plus non work hours each week can spill over to the job.

CHAPTER-4
