Garment is an article of clothing which covers human body. Wearing garments has become a habit to all of us in todays world. There are different kinds of material available to make a dress, attire, apparel or garments. We wear clothing primarily to protect our body from natural elements. Social reasons and functional reasons are secondary.

HISTORY:
Since the beginning of mankind, humans have used some kind of garments for their body. The archaeologists and anthropologists say that the earlier clothing was made of fur, leather, leaves or grass, draped or tied to the body. We in the modern times still drape, wrap or tie our cloths. The difference is that of different materials or fabrics we use to make our garments.

TYPES OF GARMENTS:
Men, Women and children are use different types of garments.Usually men wear pants and shirts. Woman wear skirts, or pants and shirts as well. In India women mostly wear sarees or salwar kurta. In the old days people used to stitch their clothes in the house, but now we can get readymade cloths. There is a huge market for readymade garments, Mens wear. Ladies wear. Kids wear.

PURCHASE DEPARTMENT
The purchase department is one of the important departments of the concern. If the company wants to purchase a required quantity; an enquiry is made to the seller about the price and quantity of the materials. After the enquiry, if the purchase officer is satisfied he asks for samples. These samples are received and duty checked by the quality department. The reports of the samples are recorded. Proper analysis of report is done. If the purchase officer is satisfied, the order is placed. Then they fix the terms and conditions with the supplier.

PURCHASE PROCEDURE PURCHASE REQUISITION


The factory is in-charge and store keeper place orders of the purchase as per the stock of materials and as per the requirement of the production department.

MEANS OF PURCHASE
The purchase manager will contact the brokers and enquire about the quality, standard, rate, cost, etc.,these brokers perform his task and submit the required through the parties concerned.

TESTING
The raw materials are tested against required standard and are accepted with regards to quality cost and other details are given essential due case to.

PURCHASE ORDERS
The samples which are in the best quality and are economic for the production of machine is selected and order is placed in loads to the concerned party through the brokers. The purchase order is made by the Purchase Executive or Manager and the order contains the following details. The purchase order contains: Description of goods. Quality. Price.

Excise duty. Delivery date. Mode of payment. Terms of payment.

These are the factors which contains in an good purchase order.

INSPECTION
The manager concerned inspected the materials so received by keeping a check on quality, cost and other related details and notifies incomes of any defects there in.

PURCHASE CONCERN
The cotton and yarn is the basic raw materials of Garment Company, the company markets its purchase all over Tamilnadu as well as from outside the company purchase the cotton through brokers and direct from the mills and it has separate godowns to store the raw materials.

MODE OF PAYMENT
The company makes its payment both on cash and on credit basis; the company has been regular in its payment as per the contracts and agreement.

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

Production department is managed under the production manager. The production manager is in-charge of all the production materials and the function of the production department.

PRODUCTION
Production is very important and highly technical area in an organization which can be divided into several units and sub units thus for the purpose of efficient production.Coordination is needed in the organization. The process from yarn procurement to manufacturing garments is length and a complicated process. This process can be divided in the following ways:

KNITTING
The process of interloping or intermeshing of yarn loops is known as Knitting. Knitting is used in converting yarn into cloth. The supply package of yarn to the knitting machine is in the form of cones. Knitting is a process of manufacturing a fabric by the intermeshing of loops of yarns. When one loop is drawn through another loop, a stitch is formed in a horizontal or vertical direction.

TYPES OF KNITTING
Types of knitting are, Weft knitting. Wrap knitting.

WEFT KNITTING Weft knitting is the process of making a fabric, by forming a set or connected loops from weft yarn inserted into successive rows across the width of the fabric. WRAP KNITTING Wrap knitting is the process of making the fabric; by forming a set of connected loops from the weft inserted into successive columns or the length of the fabric.

DYEING
Grey fabric is dyed according to the color requirements with the standard dyes as environmental friendly azo free. They use imported ht and hp soft flow machines to avoid color fastness problems, to avoid any patches and Fabric feel, the dyed fabrics gets its own structure and feel after dyeing gets over.

PRINTING
Printing is the technical area, usually tables are used for printing instead of machines, because they are cheapest means and more over it is a simple process in printing white colored fabric is treated differently from that of dark color fabrics. Printing is done after or before stitching. Screen printing, Rotary printing is methods of printing.

EMBROIDERY
Embroidery is prepared according to the design wise with using of Lurex yarn, polyester, cotton yarn and rayon to maintain the quality with using computerized barudan machines to achieve the quality and time delivery.

GARMENTING
As per the style, line production is planned for the quick productions, the garments in each stage of stitching is checked by the line quality controllers to make sure that the quality is maintained as per approved samples.

CUTTING

Cutting is highly technical area. It can either do by machines or manually to say briefly, cutting is nothing but cutting the roll of fabric according to the pattern.The cutting supervisor maintains monthly register. The management gives him a program schedules to be use for the purpose of cutting. They use different patterns for different orders.

CUTTING MACHINES ARE OF TWO TYPES


In the first type, Machines can be moved. While in the second type, the Machine is not moved the Fabric is moved.

CHECKING
This is a very important work of supervisor, he checks whether the stitching are perfect or any defect in it may result in the cancellation. It can be done by means of samples and inch tapes seam allowances should be accurate.The stitching is checked by using pick glass, while checks the number of stitches in an inch of cloth.

IRONING
Ironing is done so that the finished garment looks neat and attractive. Ironing the pressure method is used by the local companies.There are different types of ironing machines. Some are conventional type advancement type while the others are technical advancement that are taking place around the whole textile industry in the latest machine, the whole stitched on hot air passes through in a perfectly wrinkled free cloth.

PACKING
Packing adds to the attractiveness and safety of the garment. The garments are put into the polybag (polythene) with care: IPC in a polybag. PCS solid color.

QUALITY CONTROL DEPARTMENT


In the quality control department , the assistant master is the quality controller. Quality products are main aim of Quality Control Department. In each department the various steps are taken to improve quality. Quality control tests are as follows: Color fastness by using color chart. Threat strength by using twister. Fabric thickness. Information on label and tag. Number of pieces per bundle or package. Information about the address and code number as the package. Other specification as given or specified by the buyers.

INSPECTION
Inspection is done by the representative of the buyer called quality controller. It undergoes a preliminary checking (that is after some pieces have been manufactured). It is followed by middle and final checking by the quality controller. The international quality chart as AQL (Assurance Quality Level) can be used for the purpose of checking and inspecting the goods.

COMPANYS CONTROL
During the 1980s, the concept of company quality with the focus on management and people came to the force. It was realized that, if all departments approached quality with an open mind, success was possible if the management led the quality improvement process. The company-wide quality approach places an emphasis on three aspects, Elements such as controls, job management, defined and well managed processes performance and integrity criteria and identification of records. Competence such as knowledge, confidence, organizational culture, motivation, team spirit and quality relationships. The main function of the Human Resource department is Selection and Recruitment of Staffs and workers for the company.

TIME OFFICE
Labour welfare officer is full in charge of the factory management , verifying the daily workings of the employees in the concern. To maintain the attendance register for the workers.

WORKING HOURS
The company starts its workers time at 8.30 am to 7.30 pm with a break of 45 minutes (12.30 to 01.15) for lunch.

LEAVE DAYS
There is no leave restriction for Management Staff. For non-managerial, casual and Medical leaves-20 days, Earned Leaves-18 days.

PAYMENT OF WAGES
The workers are done under the contract basis- contract means two workers have to finish the allotted work with the time specified in the contract. After the work is finished their statements are made.

In order to meet the market demand to provide efficient services with professional attitude, staff training is necessary and the Human Resource Department ascertains the areas required for training at different levels, sometimes by conducting staff survey at different departments and asking for suitable training needs. Based upon the survey information, staff trainings calendar is prepared and trainings are arranged.

MAITAINING STAFF DATABASE


Human Resource Department keeps updated staff information database, since it is responsible to cater any query pertaining to staff, including issuance of job offer letter, Verification of credentials, verification of particulars provided by the staff, salary slips, arranging and issuing clearance letter in case staff resigns etc

FINANCE DEPARTMENT THE CORE FUNCTIONS ARE


Provide strategic financial support for business and operational planning. Provide day-to-day financial services to its departments and staff. Meet external and internal financial reporting requirements. Accounts manager is in charge of the department. In this they make a wide use of computer and accounts are maintained by computer system. Finance is very important for any business enterprise. The accounts department comprises of the function like cash and bank transactions. The day to day transactions are exempted in various subsidiary books and the cash received or paid in journalized and posted to the ledger respective account. At the end of the financial year the trial balance drawn and trading, profit & loss account and balance sheet is prepared.

FUNCTIONS
Framing of rules regulating the pay, leave and pension of persons in the service of the government rules regulating the number, grading or cadre and emoluments of posts under the government and also be responsible for seeing that these rules are properly applied. Finance Department is responsible for all matters relating to financial procedure and the application of the principles of sound finance. Advise on the financial aspect of all transactions relating to loans granted by the government.

Safety and proper employment of Famine Relief Fund and other special funds, if any, and for the administration of provident funds, deposits and Advances.

Examine and report on all proposals for the imposition, increase, reduction or abolition of taxes, duties, fees.

Examine and report on all proposals for borrowing or giving of a guarantee by the government and raise such loans as have been duly authorized. Finance Department shall be in charge of all matters relating to the service of loans or the discharge of guarantees.

Ensure that proper financial rules are framed for the guidance of other departments and that suitable accounts, including commercial accounts, whatever necessary, are maintained by other departments and establishments subordinate to them.

Prepare an estimate of the total receipts and disbursements of the state in each year and watching the state of the governments balances and for their ways and means operations.

Preparation of Budgets and supplementary estimates.

Advice department is responsible for the collection of revenue regarding the progress of collection and methods of collection employed.

SALES DEPARTMENT
Sales department performs the functions of selling finished goods to the different parts of the world. The raw materials are purchased from different segments and it is processed and produced as a final product and sold in the market. The sales department is directly under the control of managing partners of the company. Productions of goods are done for sales. Sales means Transfer of goods from one person to another in the ordinary course of business for cash or valuable consideration the effectiveness of sales in the organization is the most important factor for the progress of the firm because it is the final figure of project. They are responsible for sales declaration forms collection of receivables. They also attend the customers complaint and sort out.Their sales at market is of the following countries Canada and Italy the payment is made by either in cash or credit cards, sometimes advance payment is also made. Their main customers are from Germany, UK, France, Italy and Greece. Canada To provide the scope of commercial and technical capability requires a diverse skilled group of people. They operate a total business representing most facts of a company, including: Purchasing.

This training has helped me in gaining practical knowledge in international field in the present scenario, where every student requires a practical knowledge to transform in our study. In conclusion the training has helped me to gain practical function with an industry, which is more than a theoretical study.

EXIM DEPARTMENT
This is the major departments of Sreyeas Creations. The main function of this department is to facilitate the export and imports done by the company. Since the company is fully engaged in the process of EXPORT of cotton knitted garments, this department becomes a very important one. This department takes care of all the procedures regarding the Export of garments and import of any necessary machines and other items. IMPORTS The company also does Imports . They import Machinery and some kind of Special items required by the company . PROCEDURE The Import Procedure is just the Inverse of the Export procedure . The Import can be made in the following Three ways : EPCG License DEPB License Advance License

First any one of these License has to be brought by the Company . Each of these license has its own type rules and advantages . Then a Letter of Credit is obtained from the bank and sent to the Supplier. Once the supplier receives the letter of credit , he sends the goods by Ship or Flight and then sends us the Documents . These documents have to be submitted to the Customs Authority for clearance of the goods from the port. At the time of Clearance , Customs Duty has to be paid, which differs for different category of goods . Once all the formalities are over , the customer can take delivery of the goods imported . The EXIM departments is fully engaged in these activities. They prepared all the documents necessary for the export of the garments as per the order received. The marketing function in Sreyeas creations is made very simple. Since they do only exports , they do not have a separate marketing department.
