LEAP OF FAITH
By Natalie McClure
Most of us are familiar with the term to take a leap of faith, and we often offer it as advice
to others, but when it comes to taking that leap ourselves, its not always as easy as 1, 2, 3...GO!
When you think about it, why does the phrase contain the word leap instead of the word step?
The action of leaping requires more effort, more energy expended and a sudden transfer of weight
that will move you from one location (your past state) to another desired location (your future state).
Similar to the hemorrhaging woman who took a risk pushing her way through the crowd to
touch Jesus garment, God calls us at times to make leaps of faith. There will be points in our faith
journey when He may expect us to take more than a step, but luckily we dont have to leap out into thin air uncertain of what
is ahead. We leap, knowing that we will land into His loving arms.
Just recently God has asked my husband Steven and I to take a leap trusting in a new
plan He has for our future. God has called Steven and I back to our alma mater, the
University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana through an amazing job offer for Steven.
Gods providence was really at work with this opportunity and so we will make South Bend
our new home, come August.
For someone who likes to plan ahead and prepare for the future, this is quite a leap,
but I pray that like the woman in the Gospel, I may keep my eyes on Jesus and continue to reach out for Him during this
transition. I want to thank the community of St. Patrick for supporting Steven and me through our engagement and life as
newlyweds, and for helping me grow personally in my faith and trust in the Lord in ways that have helped me have the
courage to take this leap into His arms.

13TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
PARISH OFFICE CLOSED FOR
THE FOURTH OF JULYOur
Parish Office will reopen on
Tuesday morning. We give thanks to
God for the blessing of living in such a
great country. We pray that more
people throughout the world can live in
peace and freedom. Everyone have a
safe Fourth of July.

WE THANK FR. RAY CAREY FOR
BEING WITH USSpecial thanks
to our friend Fr. Ray Carey for being
with us for a few weeks to assist our
clergy with some vacation coverage.
Fr. Ray continues his ministry of
interviewing candidates for the seminary
and working with religious communities/
dioceses literally all over the world. We
hope to see our friend again in January
for his annual visit.

MINISTRY OF CARE IS LOOKING
FOR YOU TO ANSWER THE
CALLChristians hear the call of
Jesus to visit the sick. The parish would
like as many as possible to join this
ministry to visit the sick in hospitals,
nursing homes/care facilities and the
homebound. You will be properly and
thoroughly trained in this ministry to bring
prayers, Holy Communion, and a caring
presence which means so much to those
in serious need. Let this be the time YOU
personally answer this call. Do not leave
it to someone else to do this. We want to
hear from you. What a great gift you
would be to those who need you to visit.

Community has an endowment fund.

13TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
FORMING CONSCIENCES FOR FAITHFUL CITIZENSHIP
In light of our call to be faithful citizens, we will explore excerpts from Forming
Consciences for Faithful Citizenship as an on-going series through October.

This weeks reading: Inserted flyer for The Challenge of Forming Consciences for Faithful
Citizenship.

By our baptism, Catholics are committed to following Jesus Christ and to be salt for the earth, light for the
nations. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us, It is necessary that all participate, according to his position and
role, in promoting the common good. This is inherent in the dignity of the human person...as far as possible citizens should take an
active part in public life (nos. 19131915).
In Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, the USCCB reminds us that, Responsible citizenship is a virtue, and
participation in political life is a moral obligation. If you have moved or turned 18 since the last election, you must register to be
eligible to vote in the upcoming primary and general elections. Members of the Social Justice Core Team will be available after
Masses on the weekends of July 14/15 and July 21/22 with voter registration materials. Forms will also be available in the Narthex
beginning July 1 through October.

While you celebrate Americas independence
at a gathering of friends and family this week
around the pool or at the park, beach or
mountains, please take a moment to think of
those families that you have helped to attain
their own independence. Many of the families
we have built Habitat homes for have been
living with relatives where multiple families
live in a one or two bedroom apartment or in
substandard housing. Your generous
contributions of time and funds have given
these families a chance to have their own
home, where their children may share many
safe July 4 celebrations. Your efforts truly
make a difference in the lives of many! Thank
you all so very much!

Please email us at st.patrick.hfh@cox.net or
call Brian at 602-617-7994 for opportunities to
build or provide lunch this fall.
