September 28 - 30 Fri 7 - 9 pm, Sat 9 am - 8 pm, Sun 9 am - 12:30 pm Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley Suggested contribution: $40 - 80 plus Teacher Dana Most of the time we live in a narrow circle of thought preoccupied with me and mine. This retreat will explore stepping out of that narrow circle to live from a place of wisdom and compassion. We will practice with sitting and walking meditation, dharma talks, discussion periods, and small-group interviews. Pre-registration is Prerequired. Register online at www.insightpv.org or send your name, address, email and phone plus a deposit of $20 to Insight PV. (Unused deposits are non-refundable and will go toward Teacher Dana). Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley is a non-residential urban center. Its mission is to offer the Buddhas teachings of liberation to all who are interested, to nurture the development of generosity, and to bring compassion and wisdom into our daily lives. Insight PV welcomes all people regardless of cultural or religious background, race, socio-economic class, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, education, or physical ability.

HalfHalf-Day Open Sittings


Monthly on Saturday mornings, 8:30 am - noon August 18, September 8, October 6 November 10, December 8 Half-day open sittings led by practice leaders provide an opportunity for more intensive practice without committing to an entire day. All levels of experience welcome; you may drop in at any time during the morning. Sittings may include meditation instructions and a taped talk.

Registration: Registration Please register in person for classes and retreats by arriving 15 minutes early. Pre-registration is not needed except where specified. Teacher Dana: Teachers and community dharma leaders at our Center are not paid for leading classes and retreats. The suggested contributions for classes help us pay the Centers rent, phone, and administrative expenses. At the end of classes and retreats, you are invited to practice generosity (Dana) by making a gift in support of the teachers livelihood.

There will be guided meditations, discussions, recommended reading and suggestions for home practice.

MINDFULNESS FOR KIDS 9 - 12 YRS OLD CONNECTING WITH OUR HEARTS

Sundays, November 4 and 11, 3 pm - 5:30 pm Suggested contribution: $18 - 25 plus Teacher Dana In this two-part course, we will be teaching childcentered mindfulness practices that are engaging, fun and easy to learn. The second class will deepen the skills learned in the first and allow the children to develop and practice these skills at home and in their everyday lives. Parents are encouraged to come for the last 1/2 hour of class or to stay for the whole class if they feel it will benefit the child. ~4 ~

SEEDING OUR PRACTICE: DHARMA TALK AND DISCUSSION GROUP


Thursdays, October. 4, November 1 & December 6 Opportunity for Dana to the Center and Dharma Seed Each evening will begin with a 15 minute sitting, followed by listening to a selected talk from the Dharma Seed audio library, and dharma discussion, facilitated by a practice leader. ~5~

We will explore a way of communicating based in empathy and respect for all beings, and consistent with our highest aspirations and the teachings of the Buddha. Class time will consist of silent meditation practice, presentations, examining the Buddhas teachings on wise speech, discussions and experiential exercises promoting skillful and compassionate speech. ~6~
