Skill-related Fitness Fitness and skills that the players must possess and develop in any sport, to improve their performance, Have six components: Agility, Power and Speed, Coordination and Reaction, and Balance. Lesson 1 Agility Is the ability to quickly and efficiently change direction, as you move your body during play. It is useful when you make fast movements, from one side to another or within a space, to respond to your opponents action. Being agile will make you more capable of executing fast and accurate movements in your specific sport. Agility Training consists of two important factors; body awareness and muscle memory. Body Awareness- Is recognizing what the body feel in certain situation during play, Muscle Memory- Is a product of repetitive skill training, Lesson 2 Power and Speed Are the explosive components that are needed in sport. Speed- is the rate in w/c a player can completely execute a loco-motor movement like running. Power- is the combination of strength and speed for a movement to be explosive (Jumping, throwing and lifting are some example). Several ways to effectively and safely develop speed and power: Uphill running- Trains the athletes hip flexion and extension w/c is important in proving leg stride. Running downhill- Trains the legs muscles combination and the rate in w/c the leg strides. Ballistic Training- uses body weight. Polymetric Training- uses medicine balls and other equipment. Lesson 3 Coordination and Reaction Time Help in mastering and executing the correct sports skills easily, Coordination- is the ability to use different body parts to produce unified movements.

Reaction Time- is the span of time that starts the moment a person recognizes a signal and ends before he/she does the movement of reaction for the signal. Training coordination and reaction time are not an easy training other skills related fitness components. For the coordination, training athletes in the early stage (beginners level) is the best time to correct from and improve coordination. Other components must also be developed like strength, balance and agility to make the out of the coordination training. Lesson 4 Balance Is the state of equilibrium or stability. Whenever we stand, walk, sit, run and do other movements. 3 Factors that affect Balance: Eyes Ears Nervous System 2 classification of Balance Static Balance- is needed when a person is not moving. Dynamic Balance- is needed while a person is moving. Training for balance means one must develop his/her core strength. Good core strength gives a stable and maintained athletic stance.
