Job Description
Medical Surgical ward Nurse and Responsibilities:

Assessed patient and checked vital signs. Identify and Prioritize client needs. Receives endorsement from the outgoing duty and receives admitted clients from Emergency Room and Out-patient Department.

Review Patients chart and medication orders. Checked contraption equipments attached to patients for placement and in any signs of infection such as: ET tube; Drainage devices; NGT; Chest tube. Positions client and assists the physician during examinations and therapeutic procedures. Administer blood and blood products as ordered. Graph temperature, pulse and respiration. Carried out legal orders of the physician. Supervises proper preparation prior to specimen collection and follow-up results. Turned side to side, oral hygiene and bathing if patient is unable to perform ADL Assess any allergic and medication responses upon administration of meds. Collaborates with client and family their roles in promoting successful therapy and rehabilitation. Prepare clients for surgery. Assess client post-operatively and perform care such as wound care, proper positioning, and rehabilitation and diet plan. Prepares client for discharge. Endorsement of patient to incoming duties.

Pediatric Ward Nurse Duties and Responsibilities:

Receives endorsement from outgoing duties, and receives admitted patient from ER or Out-patient department. Assess patient and monitors vital signs. Checks contraption equipments attached to patient for patency, signs of infection and function such as: IV lines, photo therapy with proper shielding, OGT. Perform OGT feedings or lavage. Identify and prioritize clients needs. Prepare patients medication while observing five rights, and administer medications aseptic technique. Positions patient, and assist physician during examinations. Carried out legal orders of the physician. Graph temperature, pulse, and respirations. Educate the family about the disease process, and about the medications possible adverse effects. Collaborate with the client and the family their roles in promotion of wellness, compliances with the discharge medications and continuous care. Advise client and family regarding follow-up check up and prepare client for proper transfer or discharge. Proper endorsement of patient to incoming duties.
