Title: A STUDY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT, DEVELOPMENT AND

CONTRIBUTION OF KELLOGG-MOOKERJEE MEMORIAL
SEMINARY SCHOOL IN GOPALGUNJ, BANGLADESH

Name of researcher: SUNIL SARKAR

Name and Degree of Faculty Chair: Patrick Manu, Ph.D.
Date of Completion: July, 2008.

Purpose
The purpose of this research was to collect, to study,

to find out and to preserve the historical records of

establishment, development and contribution of the Kellogg-

Mookerjee Memorial Seminary School of Seventh-day

Adventist, in a systematic and purposeful manner. So far

these were scattered, disorganized and poorly documented.

This research also envisages encouraging and inculcating a

deep sense of pride over the establishment and great

services rendered by the Kellogg-Mookerjee Memorial

Seminary School in Gopalgunj, Bangladesh. The researcher

also hopes that this historical study would generate a

sense of total dependence on God’s leading over his people.

The leaders, teachers and the youth of both Bangladesh and

ii
Southern Asia Pacific Division at large would find great

satisfaction and comfort in God’s providence and promises.

Method and Procedure

In this research work the researcher used the

historical method of study. In its initial stage the

researcher obtained the permission of the Principal of

Kellogg-Mookerjee Memorial School to conduct a research.

Questions through the emails were passed to various former

school principals, teachers and students.

Information gathered thus provided to be indeed

invaluable. Relevant sources of information were gathered

from school records, magazines, journals, books,

statements, Statistics, Reports, etc.

After the collection of various kinds of information,

screening and selection of relevant information, major part

of this study was in organizing and putting together from

the collected information into a meaningful whole.

Conclusion
At the end of the study the researcher came to realize

and appreciate the great sacrifices and hard work put in by

the pioneer workers in establishing Kellogg-Mookerjee

Memorial Seminary School, and what God through His work has

done in a heathen field. This school has been a great model

iii
and source of inspiration for other schools and the country

of Bangladesh as well.

In fact, Kellogg-Mookerjee Memorial Seminary has

significantly contributed to the present existence of

Bangladesh Seventh-day Adventist churches, by producing God

fearing, honest and able workers engaged at various levels.

So it is indeed and important centre in our Mission program

in Bangladesh. Establishing the work at Faridpur (now

Gopalgunj) district was really putting down a road for the

Gospel of Jesus to be preached in this land. The researcher

is quite confident that God has still greater plans for His

people through this school in the days to come.
