The Burbank Adult School has been designated as an official agency to administer the General Education Development (GED) Test. Pre-registration is required.  You must pay the testing fee of $125 and it must be paid in EXACT CASH to register.  Students who complete a minimum of 40 hours of GED preparation classes through Burbank Adult School pay only $95 for the GED testing fee. Students must complete the 40 instructional hours prior to registration for testing. Fall 2013 testing dates are: September 6 - Science/Social Studies/Reading September 13 - Math/Writing September 20 - Science/Social Studies/Reading September 27 - Math/Writing October 4 - Science/Social Studies/Reading October 11 - Math/Writing October 18 - Science/Social Studies/Reading October 25 - Math/Writing November 1 - Science/Social Studies/Reading November 8 - Math/Writing November 15 - Science/Social Studies/Reading November 22 - Math/Writing Please note these dates are subject to change based on scheduling conflicts with the GED Chief Examiner and staff. You must know your social security number (not necessary to have the card). Registration for the six GED tests will start on August 12, 2013.  I MPORTANT! Please note that the current version of the GED test will end in December of 2013. Anyone planning to take this version must complete all sections of the current version by the end of 2013. The new Computer Based Test (CBT) will debut in January of 2014. Total 180 credits n addition to the above requirements, students must also meet the following I two requirements:  1) Successful passage of the CAHSEE; and 2) Completion of CASAS Assessments.

Learning Center Classes (18 weeks, 8/12/13 - 12/13/13) Study for your high school diploma or GED certificate at your own pace! The Learning Center offers students all the courses that are required for graduation as well as study materials and practice tests for GED test preparation. Enrollment is continuous, but due to high demand for these courses, students may put on a waiting list. Students must see a counselor prior to enrolling in the Learning Center. All high school students in California public schools are required to pass the CAHSEE. CAHSEE Test Preparation classes are offered in the Learning Center to prepare for this exam. A Phlebotomy Technician draws blood from patients in a hospital, clinical laboratory, doctors office or clinic. Phlebotomy Technicians are in demand as one of the fastest growing occupations in healthcare. Electrician Apprenticeship Program
(4 year program)  Average Salary: $53,674) Interested in a ( position in the electrical trade? Do you want to earn money while you learn a new trade? Apprentices/Electrical Trainees attend class one night a week from 5 to 9 pm for 76 hours a semester, two semesters a year. Apprentices will be required to gain on-the-job training experience. Apprentices will be dispatched to subscribing employers (when there are jobs available) so that they can receive on-the-job-training. (Average Annual Salary: $42,000) Students in this course will learn the fundamental skills and training that will lead to becoming professional makeup artists. Students will begin with corrective makeup techniques and advance to fashion, print, film and televi sion as well as period makeup. Students in this class will have the opportunity to work on a Community Demonstration Garden project approved by the Burbank Water and Power (BWP). This project will be a model for Burbank residents to visit and learn about.

It is mandatory that the styling head, stand, and brush set are purchased from the instructor on the first day of class ($160, cash only). Materials list is available at the Adult School Main Office. Learn how to use basic hairstyling tools, products and work with synthetic and human hair of all different lengths and textures. Learn fashion hairstyles for runway, print, film and TV. We will also learn period hairstyling, braiding, up-dos and the latest trends.

The  course utilizes structured lectures followed by related lab assignments. It is for students serious about passing the A+ exam and obtaining employment or furthering their career in IT. This semester we will be covering the internal hardware components of a computer system and Microsoft operating systems.

The course  utilizes structured lectures followed by related lab assignments. This semester we will be covering an introduction to networking, connecting computers together, routing, and Internet services. The class maps directly to the course objectives for Network+ and CCNA certifications.

In the event that a class is cancelled OR if a student chooses to withdraw from a class at least two business days prior to the class start date, the student will be entitled to a full refund. The fee for each class follows the course title. Checks, money orders, credit cards and cash will be accepted. Returned checks will be charged a $20 fee payable in cash only. There is a $10 processing fee for all refunds not due to class cancellations. No refunds will be issued to any student after the first scheduled class session (including no shows). There are no refunds for class materials and/ or books purchased by students.
