CATHOLIC SOCIETY OF MISSIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES
Envelopes in Pews This weekend, July 7th and 8th, Father Alfredo Africa from the Philippines will be visiting us. He is a member of the Society of Missions in the Philippines. This society is committed to share the gift of Faith to the people of the continent of Asia and the rest of the world. This Catholic society was founded by the Congress of Bishops from the Philippines in 1965. In the same year the Philippines celebrated 400 years of having received/welcomed the Catholic Church to the island. In gratitude to God for the gift of Faith, the Bishops of the Philippines established this society to continue the evangelical work that the first missionaries carried out on the island. They did it in their memory. In this manner the Catholic Church in the Philippines converted itself into a church forever on a mission.

Faith Formation
If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. -Psalm 95 Its that time of year when parents, children and catechists are taking a breather from religious education studies and enjoying the blessings of less-scheduled summer days ahead. Our Faith Formation office, however, is already thinking ahead to fall, and to the promise of the new catechetical year! Because I strongly believe in prayer, I am praying each and every day for enough Spirit-filled people to come forward and teach a class of religious studies for our young, inquisitive students, and share their beautiful Catholic faith with them. We currently have openings on Monday afternoons or Wednesday afternoons in the following areas: Monday-- First Grade & 5th grade. Wednesday-- 3rd, 4th & 5th grades. If you hear Gods voice whispering to you as you read this, You can do it! please call or email me and Ill be happy to discuss our catechetical program and needs with you in greater detail. Peace and blessings! Gloria Fetta, Director of Family Ministries, gfetta@stedward.com or 481-0882.
