How would you differentiate religious and moral reasoning from the use of reason as a way of knowing in the three other areas? What can religious and moral reasoning do and not do, compared to reasoning in the other realms? Which form of reasoning is most superior/powerful? Why? Cite reasons and examples to support your claims. Religion: Understanding and Reasoning with the Unseen ! The main difference between the religious and moral reasoning from the reasoning in the three other areas of knowledge is that religion and moral reasoning does not have proofs while the others have proofs that come from research and experimentations. Religious and moral reasoning would only use the reason of believing rst before even understanding it. While this can be a claim, the main essence of knowing earthly materials as compared to heavenly materials cannot be compared and used in the same way. We do not understand completely the other side of things while the areas of knowledge namely natural sciences, human sciences and arts are earthy materials and can be easily seen and described. ! Moral and religious reasoning would be based more on the culture and the beliefs of a group of people while the reasoning of other areas of knowledge would be universal to everyone. This would then lead to the limitations of each area of knowledge. One of the limitations of religious and moral reasoning is the group based on with its claims. The claims of these groups might not be universal and can be different. This will lead to different arguments and the different epistemologies. On the other side, the reasoning used in the other three areas of knowledge are based on the materials that we observe. This gives us the advantage of proving everything is right. This will allow us to examine the realities of life, The main disadvantage here is that we do not really know what these values mean to us and they tend to be in the form of numbers and math. ! My claim is that many people still believe that reasoning in science is most needed. This can be justied by the use of a survey and it garnered 56% out of 50 samples. On the other hand, religion and morality reasoning are garnering quite low points and this can be interpreted as people dont really believe in reason as a way of knowing for these two areas of knowledge. ! In the search for which way of knowing is the most appropriate, we came to the conclusion that reason can still be used for religion and morality but not in the same way as it is used in the sciences and arts. This is primarily due to the difference in worlds that we belong to.
