Development of social networks became one of the main trends in sphere of mass communications last decade. For today it is possible to say that distribution of social networks to this or that country depends on a number of factors in which number the image created by mass-media concerning social networks enters also. So, for example, in each country there is a certain set of "fears" which mass-media create concerning social networks. For studying of features of formation of an image of social networks in the Russian mass-media we had been analysed news messages for 2011., in which the mention of the social networks, three largest TV channels - the First channel (www.1tv.ru), Russia 1 (http://russia.tv/), "NTV" (www.ntv.ru)contained. News messages have been distributed on positive, neutral and negative. We have carried to negative news (red color) in what social networks are considered in connection with perfect illegal actions, i.e. infringement of norms of the current legislation, including in the field of regulating work of social networks. In neutral (yellow color) news social networks are mentioned as a communication medium and-or their technical characteristics are described. News in which networks are connected with positive formal and informal sanctions, successes or achievements have been carried to the positive (green color). Research was spent on the basis of the news presented on Internet sites of given TV channels.

The analysis has allowed to draw following conclusions:

 The Greatest quantity of news messages with a mention of social networks on the channel Russia 1 - 67 % from the sum of news on all channels On channels "Russia-1" and "NTV" dominates neutral type of news (52 % and 51 % accordingly). Also on these channels a similar parity of positive and negative news. On the First channel the priority is given to positive illumination of social networks (49 % of news) The Greatest quantity of mentions of social networks on three channels in aggregate is necessary for July, June and February accordingly.
The analysis also has shown that the main dangers of social networks according to mass-media are political actions and use of social networks for an exchange of the right answers during carrying out of uniform graduation examination.
