Description
The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Admitted Racist Randy Blazak. Mr. Blazak is part of the Department of Sociology at Portland State College. His research areas include: juvenile delinquency, hate crimes, masculinity, racism, prisons, and constructions of whiteness. He's currently investigating the transitioning of white supremacist inmates back into the community after their release from incarceration. He recently published a blog post titled, "How B.B. King got me to stop being a racist." Blazak discusses being raised in the birthplace of the modern Klu Klux Klan - Stone Mountain, Georgia; he "grew up in a racist family, in a racist town, in a racist state, in a racist country." He alleges to being trained to fear black people, but artistic geniuses like B.B. King and Nina Simone helped him value black lives and acknowledge his own Racism.
