Description
John Zacharias joins us to talk about his calling: working with senior citizens and their mental health. John graduated from Towson University (formerly Towson State), 1988, Summa cum Lauder with a Sociology major w/Gerontology concentration. His first job was working in a senior center in NW Philadelphia. He visited homebound elderly and helped arrange services to keep them out of nursing homes. He also worked with the American Cancer Society as an intake coordinator and as Director of Social Services in a retirement community in Shelburne, Vermont. Last but certainly not least, he worked for 18 years in another retirement community in Richmond (Masonic Home of Virginia) caring for his mom who had bone cancer.
