An assistant professor of applied linguistics in the Department of English and Technical Communication at Missouri University of Science and Techno‌logy, Dr. Hercula’s primary research focus is on language variation and linguistic (in)equality. She recently visited St. Louis Public Radio to detail how non-white people are often mistreated because their way of speaking differs from White people. Gus and many C.O.W.S. listeners invest a great deal of time interrogating  how White Supremacists use words to maintain their System of terrorism and keep non-white people confused.
