All of the people she spoke with, some of whom were very well-versed in these issues, talked about fasting. She also found Tro Kalayjian and others who inspired her. Suzy had been diagnosed with fatty liver disease, had other stress-related issues, and more. When it came down to it, after listening to Jason Fung, she realized she was insulin resistance. BEATING INSULIN RESISTANCE Once she realized this was her problem, she took the plunge. Susy began by cutting out sugar and grains. She started with the obvious things (bread, pasta), and also seed oils. Importantly, she allowed herself to eat as much fat as she could at the beginning. It's important to not beat yourself up if you mess up at the beginning –– just get back on the wagon right away. She didn't exercise, rather, she focused on one thing at a time. Weight loss started fairly quickly, but more noticeably, her joints felt better. She did lose a great amount of weight, too. When she plateau'd, she cut her fat intake down a little. Then, she started fasting which really helped kick her insulin resistance. It was all about getting into it slowly, intelligently, and fine tuning it.
