ENERGISATION PROCEDURE
1. Receive Line clearance back from the concerned elecrical Maint/Testing Engineer for energising single/both UPS.
2. At UPS panel at control room S/S & also at corresponding outgoing feeder at S/S check physically that the UPS is ready for getting chared by verifying that : a) All man & materials have been removed. B) Local earthing provided (if any) during shutdown/isolation of feeder is removed. 3. Meggar the outgoing feeder cable to UPS (IF REQUIRED) by 1 KV meggar. Before meggaring ensure that the cable is isolated from both sides.

the meggar value should not be less than Phase to Phase : 1 mega ohms Phase to earth : 1 mega ohms

If the values are not found as mentioned above, inform S/S shfit engineer. If meggar values are as per mentioned above then follow next steps :
Fix back the fuses at the source at substation and switch ON the isolator for the UPS to be charged. 4. If the whole system (UPS & Bypass) is to be started from cold then ensure that before starting S9 (static bypass isoaltor) is in OFF condition otherwise S9 shall be kept ON.

5.

START-UP OF UPS

5.1 Switch ON the power to UPS by closing switch S3 (control switch located behind module door) 5.2 Check that on module mimic, CB1 (input to UPS), CB2 (output to UPS) and CBB (battery circuit breaker) have Green indication (I.e. OPEN)

5.3 Check that input voltage as shown by voltmeter M6 provided at UPS panel is 415V between phases. Also check that on UPS panel CBB (battery circuit breaker) open alarm is persisting. 5.4 Close manual circuit breaker CB1 (input to UPS). Check that the DC voltage rises to 247.5 volts in about 15 secs. As indicated by voltmeter M4 and the AC voltage shall rise to approx 110V AC as shown by voltmeer M1. Also check & reset all alarms.

5.5

Close the battery circuit breaker CBB (LOCATED NEAR BATTERY BANK). Check that on module mimic its LED indication becomes RED from Green. Also check that the battery is getting charged by checking the current reading shown by Ammeter M5.
Close CB2 the output circuit breaker. Check that on Mimic diagram the LED indication goes to RED from GREEN.

5.6

5.7

Reset all existing alarms by pressing RESET button.

FOR ENERGISING OTHER MODULE FOLLOW THE SAME STEPS (5.1 TO 5.7)

5.8

SYSTEM LOADING (applicable when both UPS were OFF and load was supplied by Bypass)

5.8.1 At system output module (SOA) check that the module indicator is RED for each running module. Ensure that the Static bypass isolator S9 is ON. Check that on Module mimic its LED indication is RED. 5.8.2 check that the output voltage of UPS and Bypass is approx same as indiated by voltmeter M1 using switch S1.

Now in order to ensure smooth transfer from Bypass to UPS set UPS voltage abvoe by approx 10 volts by adjusting the voltage with VOLT ADJUST potentiometer.
5.8.3 Operate the transfer switch S8 to close K2 I.e. from Bypasss to UPS. Observe after approx 10 secs that the module mimic diagram the LED for K2 changes from GREEN to RED and for K3 it changes from RED to GREEN.

5.8.4 Adjust UPS voltage if required to nominal output voltage (11KV) by VOLT ADJUST potentiometer. 5.8.5 Switch ON the load if it was not ON.

6.

Reset all the Existing alarms and Inform PNE that the supply to UPS is normalised.
Complete remaining columns of LT-LC (P&U-53), and update the LC register R-11.
