Toshiba Group Companies shall: comply with all applicable laws and regulations and appropriate social practices governing its local and global businesses ; and promote procurement activities in a way that reduces the environmental impacts while selecting suppliers (hereinafter including prospective suppliers) and procurement items. provide suppliers with equal opportunities for transactions with Toshiba Group. promote procurement activities based on mutual understanding and trust.

Suppliers Selection Criteria


The company complies with laws, regulations and places emphasis on human rights and environmental consciousness. The company has sound business operations. The company has the ability to supply goods and/or services to Toshiba Group with emphasis on appropriate quality, price and delivery lead-time. The company is capable of providing a stable supply of goods and/or services. Also the company must have the flexibility to respond quickly to supply/demand fluctuations. The company possesses technology that contributes positively to Toshiba Group products. The company has a plan for providing a continuing supply of goods and/or services in times of unexpected circumstances that may affect the company and its supply chain.

Toshiba also ask for its suppliers to request to their own suppliers for understanding and promoting Toshiba Group Procurement Policy

Green Procurement
Toshiba Group is promoting green procurement worldwide with the cooperation of its business partners. Toshiba has developed a shared understanding of biodiversity initiatives with its business partners. Toshiba conducts a survey to check how many chemicals with potentially high environmental impacts or scarce resources are contained while procuring parts and raw materials and give priority to those with low environmental impact. Information on parts and materials is stored in a database and used for various purposes, including certifying newly procured materials, making judgments as to whether or not to replace existing materials with substitutes, or developing environmentally conscious products. Toshiba perform analyses of chemicals on its own to verify information on parts and materials and take an active part in developing and improving analysis methods to increase the accuracy and efficiency of data collection.

Toshiba aims to establish the best procurement system through a worldwide network, built upon 10 International Procurement Offices (IPO). IPOs not only find excellent new suppliers from around the world, but also provide its business bases with daily procurement services.
