POTTERS COMMUNITY
The Potters community is located at the NorthWest end of the village. There are three kinds of houses found in the community and the housing pattern is clustered.

Cluster- Most of the houses were found in clusters with space for pottery. Linear (kulalar street)- The only linear street of the community.

TYPOLOGY OF HOUSES
Kutcha house - can't withstand harsh weather. (Temporary)

Semi pucca semi permanent houses walls made up of bricks and roof made of temporary structure.
Pucca house can withstand harsh weather. (Permanent)

TYPOLOGY-1: FLOW OF ACTIVITIES


This typology of house is Utility area found in the linear street of the community. The bigger houses of the community are Kitchen found in this street. Work space with This typology of house has a storage flow of spaces from semiLiving Area public to semi private to most private rooms.
Front Verandah

TYPOLOGY-1:
All houses have an attic and a separate work area. The attic is reached by an wooden ladder. The houses are elevated over a plinth of 0.6m. This was done due to the chance of flooding during rainy seasons.

TYPOLOGY-1:
Use of spaces based on the different times of the day: 1. During the mornings the kitchen and the work area are the most used. 2. In the afternoon, the living areas and the front verandah are the most used areas.

3. The storage space and the attic are used to store the pots before selling. 4. The most used space of the house is the Living area that also has a small pooja area and a bed for resting.

TYPOLOGY-2: FLOW OF ACTIVITIES


This typology of house is found in the cluster type housing. This typology is a Kutcha house with a single room and a semi permanent front area. The room has a long bench for resting and kitchen space on the other side.

TYPOLOGY-2:
In this typology there is more of concentration of activity than flow of activities. The single living room is the most used space and there is a backyard that is used as a space for work. The front semi- permanent structure is used as a cooking space and also as the storage space.

TYPOLOGY-3: FLOW OF ACTIVITIES


This typology of house is found on the main road of the cluster typology. This house is a pucca house and is comparatively well planned. This house has the bed and bath on the rear of the house, a kitchen and a living area in the middle and a small store and a foyer in the front.

The living area has a door leading to the side of the house that has a semi-permanent structure. This is where the pottery work is being carried our. The most used spaces are the living and the work areas. The foyer is the place where women sit and roll Beedi during the day. The kitchen has a small wash area at the corner for washing vessels.

TYPOLOGY-3:
The picture show the activities at the work space and the foyer of the house. There is a good street level interaction as the foyer space, in other words the steps of the foyer space is used as the meeting space for women who roll Beedi during the day {Post-noon}. The side space is the work space where the pottery is done. This is also used for most part of the day in addition to the living room that connects the house to the work area.
