The Womens Unit of the ISLD is committed to the mission of providing a dignified and decent human existence for women, by enhancing their capacities in terms of awareness-generation, participation in decision-making processes, raising questions to development paradigms and searching for alternatives.

Rural & Urban Development Unit


Rural development as an integrated concept of growth and development has been of paramount concern in India. The Rural Development Unit of the Institute not only examines and analyses the issues concerning the rural poor.

Tribal Unit
The Tribal Unit has an objective of operationalising its plans and strategies for the empowerment of the priority groups, particularly Tribals, on issues confronting their livelihood, survival, holistic development and rights. Apart from research projects at the grassroots level, the unit has an objective of making policy interventions too.

Human Rights & Law Unit


Human Rights and Law Unit (HRLU) focuses on securing human rights for all through various research, training, networking and advocacy programmes. Our goal is to secure human rights for all, i.e., the Dalits, tribals, women, minorities and the marginalized section of society.

Dalit Unit
The main focus of Dalit Unit (DU) is to sensitize poor Dalits to become part of the social mainstream through holistic and inclusive development and strong Dalit assertion. It focuses on three basic components of Dalit empowerment: 1. researches addressing issues that concern Dalit exclusion at social, political, economic, and cultural milieus 2. Training Dalit cadre, particularly, Dalit youth and Dalit women on special Component Plan (SCP) 3. Social and political advocacy in the areas of Dalit atrocities.

Social Aspect
Under CSR initiative, there will be a conclave at free of cost in every December for the Skill and Entrepreneurship Development with an objective to provide a platform to all the MSMEs (Workforce & Promoters), Where they can share their ideas and experiences.
