School Wide Discipline Plan

Student Accountability For Academic Success (SAAS)

SAAS Purpose
Create a productive, effective, and positive learning environment for all students and reach their full potential. Provide a framework for the school to design, implement, and evaluate the efficacy of students engagement with the classroom. Teach and hold students accountable for materials taught in the classroom.

SAAS Purpose
Promote positive behavior in the classroom for all students through primary prevention. Moving from reactive approaches to proactive approaches designed to support and improve appropriate student behavior choices.

SAAS
This effort cohesively unites all adults in using: 1. A common language 2. Common practices

3. Consistent application of positive and negative reinforcement

Behavioral Expectations
There are certain behavioral expectations that all Heritage Students must abide by. These behaviors should must be posted, explained and reinforced.

Activity 1
1. Each group will review and discuss behaviors provided. 2. Match as many behaviors with correct core principle ( Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Cooperative ).
3. Report Out.

Positive Behavior Choices Recognition System


Eagle Points: All teachers will record Eagle Points at the end of the week. Students get Eagle Points for remaining on Green-3pts, Blue-2pts, Yellow-1 the entire day. Students who acquire 10 pts. a week are eligible for the end of the month celebration.

Weekly Recognitions:
Acknowledge and Praise appropriate behaviors. Teachers will send to the office the names of students who displayed behavior appropriate for All Star Board. Teachers will be given laminated stars for each student at the beginning of the year.

End of the Month Celebrations

Students who earned 10 Eagle Points per week the previous month, will be invited to a school-wide, grade appropriate celebration.

Staffs Role
Model appropriate behavior. Constant contact with parents. Hold students accountable. Refrain from yelling at students. Dont speak in a degrading manner.

Use students name when addressing.

Young man or young lady when you dont know students name. Do not use little boy or little girl.

Remain calm try not to inflame already tense situations. Hold students accountable for their behaviors for all areas of the school. (specials, lunch, etc.)

Praise students constantly for the positive behaviors Make sure students are monitored at all times.

Classroom Behavior Management Expectations


Teachers will create and implement a classroom management plan. Establish rules and expectations. Rules should be posted. Plan should be communicated with parents. Teachers are expected to track students using the color system.

School-Wide Consequences
1st Time Receive a class consequence. 2nd Time Parent contact made and documented. 3rd Time Student should be referred to the office on a discipline referral form (accompanied by documentation of parent contact). These consequences are for a one week interval.

Grade Level Chair


Each team will a appoint discipline chair who will facilitate discipline on the team and communicate discipline concerns with the In School Instructor, and administration. This person will serve on the school-wide discipline team.

The decision to implement team consequences such as silent lunch, detention, etc., will be up to the grade level and the discipline chair will facilitate.
