The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus Before 6:00 p.m. (this was the beginning of a new day, which was a Sabbath) Jesus died.

Jesus body was buried in a new garden tomb. The entrance to the tomb was sealed with a large stone. The chief priests and the Pharisees secured the tomb by fixing a seal to the stone and setting the guard. Why? Because as Jesus predicted he would suffer and die; but that was not the end.
