The festival of Holi can be regarded as a celebration of

the colors of unity and brotherhood. It is an opportunity to forget all differences end break all barriers of discrimination so that everyone looks the same and universal brotherhood is reaffirmed. Holi derives its name from Holika and is celebrated as a festival of victory of good over evil. It is celebrated on the full moon in the month of Phalgun and it is celebrated without any cast ,creed, color,race,status or sex.

It is called Navaratra also and Navaratra means 9

nights. It is celebrated twice in a year once in Spring season that is called Chaitra Navaratra or Vasant Navaratra and other is Sharad Navaratra . It is celebrated to worship the devine power of Shakti which was stared by our youngsters. Fasting in Navaratra follows a practice of cleansing and purifying once body and soul which is believe in blessing person with virtue.

It marks the birth of lord Krishna i.e incarnation of

lord Vishnu. It accospondence to the month of august to September in the Gregorian calendar. It is commonly believe that Krishna took birth for killing Kansa the unreligious demon king of Mathura. The tradition of Dahi handi is still alive and is celebrated enthusiastically in all over India.

It is celebrated on the birth day of lord Ganesha, the

god wisdom and prosperity. Its celebrated on the fourth day of the moons bright fortnight. On Ganesh chaturthi it is still forbidden to look at the moon as the moon had laughed at Ganesha when he fell from his vehicle the rat. Vinayak chaturthi celebration end with the immersion of clay Ganpati idle in water.

According to the legend of ramayama diwali

commemorets the return of the crown prince of Ayodhya Ram and incarmation of lord Vishnu from his 14 years exil with Seeta and brother Laxman after killing Ravana a demon king. This day is entirely devoted to the goddess Laxmi. Laxmi puja is the main event of diwali. Broom is worshiped on this day with offerings of Haldi and Kumkum.

celebrated by an increasing number of non christens. On Christmas eve Santa claus enters the home of good children usually via the chimany bearing gift of toys and distribute it to the children. Indian population speaks variety of languages

likeAngika , Bengali ,Bhojpuri , English , Garo , Gujrati, Hindi , Marathi , Tamil , Malayalam , Kannad etc. Our national language is Hindi but now most of the people use English because it is the only language which is understood by entire world.

Every state in India has its own cuisine . In

South India Rasam ,Rice Idli ,Sambhar ,Dosa are most polpular dishes . In Maharashtra people likes Thali system Gujratis prefer Dhokla ,Thepla ,Phaphada ,Panjabis like Makke di roti with sarso da saag and rajasthani loves to have Daal ,bati , churma .

Popular style in dress includes drapped

garments such as Saari for women and Dhoti/Lungi for men. Stiched cloths are also popular such as churidar or Salwar kameez for women with dupatta and for men stiched version include Kurta Pyjama and European style trousers and shirts. In urban centres people can often be seen in Jeans , Trousers ,Shirts ,Suits and variety of other fashions.

The Ramayana and Mahabharata are the oldest preserved and well known epics of India. It tells the story of Rama whose wife Sita is abducted by a demon king of Lanka called Ravana. And Mahabharata is the story of Kourwas and Pandavas battle.
