interest group that endeavors to influence public policy and especially governmental legislation, regarding its particular concerns and priorities.
Here it refers to - A wide range of more or less informal , but often organized pressure groups which seek to influence directly what the media do.

To set limits to what the media publishes. -They complain on a range of issues like : Matters of morality , political bias .
They want the media to be sensitive and positive to the minority communities including ethnic groups, women, homosexuals and vulnerable groups like children , poor , disabled , homeless people and the mentally ill.
