Organization of the Book


The book is divided into five major parts, composed of 17 regular chapters (two of which are online) supplemented by six online tutorials and six Technology Guides. Parts and chapters break down as follows:

Part I: IT in the Organization


Part I gives an overview of IT in the enterprise. Chapter 1 introduces the driver of the use of IT in the digital economy and gives an overview of ISs and IT trends. Chapter 2 presents the foundations of ISs and their strategic use. Special attention is given to cutting-edge topics. Part II: IT infrastructure


This part introduces two major building blocks of IT: Data and Networks. Other building blocks are covered in the online Technology Guides. Part III: The Web Revolution
