Service Description (1)

The User-to-User Signaling (UUS) supplementary service allows both parties of a call to send the User-to-User Information (UUI) (such as the functional number of the calling party) on the signaling channel.

The UUS service is categorized into three types: UUS1, UUS2, and UUS3.
UUS1 allows users to send the UUI in the call control message. UUS2 allows users to send the UUI in a specific user-to-user message after receiving the Address Complete Message (ACM) and before receiving the CONNECT message. UUS3 allows users to send the UUI in a specific user-to-user message during the call activation. The GTSOFTX3000 supports UUS1.

Service Description (2)

A user can request the UUS1 service in two modes. Implicit request: The MS contains the UUI cell in the SETUP message. In implicit request mode, the peer side does not need to respond to the message. In this case, the service is in active state immediately after service verification is passed. Explicit request: The MS sends the request and receives the response through the FACILITY cell in the call control signaling. The explicit request for the UUS1 service can also contain the UUI cell.

The GTSOFTX3000 supports implicit request for the UUS1 service.

The calling MS originates a common point-to-point call. call setup message SETUP contains the UUI The cell, indicating that the user requests the UUS1 service.

MSCa checks whether the calling party subscribes to the UUS1 service. If yes, MSCa transmits the UUI transparently. Otherwise, MSCa discards the UUI.

MSCa checks the length of the UUI cell. If the length exceeds 32 bytes, MSCa truncates the excessive bytes.

The UUI cell is transmitted to MSCb that the called party belongs to over the ISUP trunk or PRA trunk. MSCb transmits the UUI to MSb through the SETUP message. In subsequent call control signaling, the calling and called parties can send the UUI for each other. The control signaling that can transmit the UUI cell include the alerting, answer, release, and release completion messages.

Service Process (2) - upplementary S Explanation

UUS1 can be originated by the calling party and can be transmitted in the call control signaling. Users can communicate with each other through UUS1 at the call setup and release stages.

Inter-office UUI must be transmitted through the PRA or ISUP signaling system. If no PRA or ISUP signaling exists between offices, the UUS service cannot be activated. If users of the local office subscribe to the UUS service, the UUI can still be transmitted between the users of the local office.

To transmit UUI by PRA, PRA users must subscribe to the UUS service.

For the UUS1 service, a message sent by the calling party to the called party can contain the UUI consisting of no more than 32 bytes. message sent by the called party to the calling party can A contain the UUI consisting of no more than 128 bytes. Otherwise, the excessive bytes are automatically truncated.

Data Configuration (2) - MSC Data Configuration

In case of inter-office ISUP trunk, pay attention to the bit 12 of software parameter P027.

This bit controls the method of processing the message when the IAM message received by the local office from the remote office contains the UUS1 cell. 0: When the IAM message received contains the UUS1 information, the local MSC transmits the information transparently. Note: When the IAM message received contains the UUS1 information, the incoming trunk transmits the information to the CCB without modification and does not save the information. 1: When the IAM message received contains the UUS1 information, the local MSC discards the information. Note: When the IAM message received contains the UUS1, the incoming trunk saves the information and does not transmit the information to the CCB. Instead, the incoming trunk adds the saved information to the ACM message and sends the message to the remote office. The default value is 1.

In case of inter-office PRA trunk, check whether PRA users subscribe to the UUS1 service.

Typical Applications (Overview)

In the GSM-R system, UUS1 can be used in various applications. Typical application scenarios are as follows:

Information interaction between terminals. For example, functional number, called subaddress, and OTDI. UUS1 transmits the functional number of the calling party through the UUI cell so that the functional number can be easily displayed on the called terminal.

Information interaction between the terminal and network side (AC server). For example, AC acknowledgement and call matrix. AC acknowledgement: UUS1 uses the UUI cell to send the call related information such as duration of the call and cause of termination to the MSC, which forwards the information to the AC server. Then the AC server saves and queries the call related information. Call matrix: During the call setup, the calling party uses the UUI cell to send his/her functional number to the network side. Then the network side performs call arbitration according to the functional numbers of the calling and called parties to determine whether call connection is allowed.

Typical Applications - Functional Number (1)

The functional addressing service allows users to call the staff at special posts through the function number. The following figures shows the process of functional addressing for voice calls in MSC mode.

The dispatch station defines a functional number for its post according to the post function and service area. In this way, the dispatch station can dispatch and direct the current real user on duty by calling the functional number. In case of shift rotation for the post, the functional number of the post remains unchanged. Therefore, the dispatch station can still dial the functional number to call the current person on duty at the post.

The person on duty can register his/her MSISDN with the functional number that corresponds to a post. In this way, the person establishes a relationship between the functional number and real user.

The calling party dials the functional number. When the MSC sends the Send Routing Information message for the first time, the message contains the functional number of the called party. In this way, the MSC obtains the real MSISDN corresponding to the functional number from the HLR, thus establishing the call connection.

Typical Applications - Functional Number (2)

For a call through the voice functional number, the UUS1 service is used to display the functional numbers of the calling and called parties.

During the call setup, the calling party uses the UUI cell in the SETUP message that is sent to the network side to transmit his/her functional number.

After the called party responds to the paging request, the network side uses the UUI cell in the SETUP message that is sent to the called party to transmit the functional number of the calling party. In this way, the called terminal can display the functional number of the calling party.

Typical Applications - AC Acknowledgement

After the Voice Group Call Service (VGCS) or Voice Broadcast Service (VBS) with a high priority is complete, if the call related information needs to be recorded, the terminal originates a request for AC acknowledgement and uses the UUI cell in the SETUP message to send the call related information such as identity of the sender, duration of the call, group call reference, priority, and cause of termination to the MSC. After receiving the call related information, the MSC forwards it to the AC server. Then the AC server receives, responds to, and saves the AC message. In addition, the AC server can query, export, and print the AC message. The MSC uses the UUI cell in the call release message to indicate whether the current request for AC acknowledgement is successful.
Use the UUI to transmit the call related information. For details about the codes, see the AC Acknowledgemen t Training Course.

Typical Applications - Call Matrix

In the railway operation, users with different identities have different functional numbers. The access matrix is defined to perform call arbitration according to the numbers of the calling and called parties and determine whether call connection is allowed. In this way, the connection relationship between the calling party and the called party is defined on the GSM-R network, thus preventing incorrect connection. The access matrix service applies to point-to-point calls only. The following figures show functionalimplementation principle of call matrix in MSC mode. the numbers and their attributes Obtain the
