Design Goal
Making it easier for people to show some attention to mail carriers, so that they will feel more appreciated during work-time.
Mail carrier: here only refers to the those who deliver mail rather than packages.
Current Situation
Mail carriers
Other people
Most times dont see each other Limited communication Some degree of empathy and appreciation
Interaction vision
Interaction vision
Like a warm wind, embracing the mail carriers with the feeling that they are cared and appreciated by people.
Research goal:
To know about mail carriers working experience, the interaction between mail carriers and receivers and receivers attitude towards them.
Design goal:
To generate initial ideas and to test the original interaction vision.
Insights:
Different working experiences: areas, working hours and personal causes Connection with people during work enhances happiness & satisfaction Working efficiency as the common concern, which contradicts the communication with people. Mainly communicate with the receivers and people they have seen some times Most mail carriers often mentioned their hard times in bad weather, which indicates their desire for understanding and appreciation. The fact that many mail carriers listen to music in walkman or iPod. They dont have much expectation for their job, and just get used to it, as long as there is no complaint from receivers Most mail carriers are not proud of their job.
Online questionnaire
Interview Workbook
Insights:
The reason why most people have little communication with mail carriers: the difference in time and place, no trigger for a contact. Impression of mail carriers: Neutral, busy Attitude towards mail carriers: Dont care, gratitude Many people are aware of the difficulty of their job Some have shown appreciation when interviewed or writing on the workbook, but most of their appreciation hasnt been brought out.
