INTRODUCTION
The most common sexually transmitted disease Major infectious cause for genital organs and eyes Found living inside human cells It can be transmitted during vaginal, oral or anal sex. It can be also transmitted from an infected mother to her baby through vaginal childbirth
CAUSATIVE AGENT
Its caused by chlamydia trachomatis Chlamyidia trachomatis is most commonly found infection in human
In women it effects the cervix the most. It will also effect the rest of the genital tract n can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, leading to infertility and ectopic pregnancies. In man in will effect the urethra , the ependidymis In can also effect the rectum but rarely It effects the eyes leading to conjuctivits or trauchoma There are also slight chances of affecting the joints
EFFECTS
CLINICAL SYMPTOMS
Symptoms appear 1-3 weeks after exposure to the bacteria Many cases can appear asymtomatic In women, it can show increased vaginal discharge caused by inflamed cervix, frequent urge to urinate, pain during urination, pain or bleeding during or after intercourse, abdominal pain, irregular menstruation or lymphogranuloma vereneum In man , there will be white discharge from the penis, burning sensation or pain during urination, pain and swelling of testicals and reactive arthritis in 1% of the cases. In cases of rectal infection the symptoms are rarely seen Clinical symptoms are noticed more in men then in women

for women the sample used are urine sample and swab of the vagina for men the sample used are urine n swab at the end of the urethra techniques used are: - nucleic acid amplification with amplification of the DNA and RNA sequence - CRT ( chlamydia rapid test) first void urine is collected and checked with antibodies against chlamydia lipolysaccharide - Culture - Serological - Antibody detection - Genetic probe methods
DIAGNOSIS
Chlamydia can be treated using azithromycin, doxycycline, and oxoflaxin For pregnant women erythromycin and amoxialine is recommended

Caunseling for people with many sexual partners Usage of condoms
RECURRENCE
Chlamydia has high chances of recurrence but can be controlled with proper medications
