Crime rate has increased over the years in Pakistan

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:

What are the causes of rising crimes in Pakistan? HYPOTHESIS STATEMENT H0: Poverty is not the cause of rising crime in Pakistan. H1: Poverty is the causes of rising crime in Pakistan.

What is poverty???
Poverty Poverty exists where people lack the means(certain amount of material possession or money) to satisfy their basic needs. Types of poverty 1. Absolute poverty 2. Relative poverty

Absolute poverty Absolute poverty refers to Lack of Basic needs like clean water, nutrition, health care, education, clothing and shelter. Relative poverty The condition of having fewer resources or lesser income as compared to others within the society or a country or as compared to world wide averages.

STATISTICS
Population in Pakistan: 180 Million(approx). Poverty Rate: 37.5%( Increased from 23.9% to 37.5% in last three years because economic shocks and natural disasters) 17% of the total population lives below poverty line.

STATISTICS(CONTD)
20%of the house hold get 50% of the total income(these household includes elite and the upper class). Bottom 20% of the household gets merely 7% of the total income(these includes household that lives below the poverty line).

CAUSES OF POVERTY
Pakistan at the time of independence had very little resources and capital thus the process of developments was very slow. Over the years the number of causes has increased they are; 1. Increasing defense expenditure 2. Lack of education 3. Unemployment 4. Large scale Imports 5. Inflation rate and corruption level

causes and important factors Summarize some of the articles about the crimes in Pakistan Study what people think about government actions and what are their suggestions to get rid of these issues. List out the findings from literature review, analysis of data collected from predesigned discussions and interviews form people including victim of criminal acts. We also have given some recommendations

RESULTS AND ANALYSIS

Have you ever been a victim of street crime? At what type of places you have been victimized? Normally what is the age group of criminals? What are the most common causes of rising crimes?

Do you think the political parties are providing support to criminal activities? Do you think that cyber crimes are becoming more common especially in youth? What steps should be taken by the government to fight against the crimes in Pakistan?

CONCLUSION
crime in Pakistani society is on a rapid increase due to: rising poverty, unemployment and inequality in Pakistani society illiteracy rate lawlessness, fundamentalism, Backwardness, double standards prevailing in the society and Frustration and aggression among youth.

Strong judiciary Honest officers in law maintaining departments Increase in salaries of police officers Provide employment opportunity to youth Aid should be used in progress of the nation More and more industries should be set up
