BSSC Configuration
A BSSC cabinet can be configured as: A Base Station Controller (BSC) containing digital hardware modules configured to control the radio subsystem. A Remote Transcoder (RXCDR) containing digital hardware modules configured to provide an interface between the BSC and Mobile Switching Centre (MSC).

A combination of the BSC and RXCDR functions.

The difference between the BSC and RXCDR configurations is in the complement of digital modules on the backplane.

Shelf Internal Connections Overview

To process all the data required to make and maintain the call, each software process and therefore digital card must be able to communicate which each other and to any external entities such as the MSC or BTS.
