Whats the big deal about the Mongols?


In 84 years, from 1195-1279, they conquered the largest land empire the world has ever seen. They did this without modern weaponry, transportation or communications. Their army never numbered more than 200,000.

Why is the Mongolian horse important?

How did the ancient Mongolians treat their horses?


Describe the horses appearance. What products come from this horse? How is it used in daily life in Mongolia today? How is it cared for? How many of these horses are there today?

Everyone in a herding family helps out. A small boy, perhaps 5 years old, herds his familys sheep. Because young boys are expected to help with herding, girls are often sent to school, while boys stay at home.

They brought the Black Plague to Western Europe
