Objectives of MBA Internship Program:

To provide an extensive exposure to the student of hands on experience in a corporate environment.


To provide a platform for the MBA students to equip themselves of all the necessary practical knowledge and skills that would increase their employability & make them competent professionals. To provide a platform for the corporate to test the reliability, quality and performance of the students and make a match for final job offer later if they so deem fit.

TIME & DURATION OF THE PROJECT:


TIME: October 1, 2012 November 30, 2012
(After completion of the 1st year of the program, i.e., after the 2nd semester and before the commencement of the second year of the program, the students are required to work with an organization for hands on experience.) DURATION: Two (2) Months

PROCEDURE OF INTERNSHIP:
1. Choose your area of Specialization; for e.g. Finance, Marketing or HR. 2. Choose a Sector/Industry; for e.g. FMCG, Banks, Insurance, Automobile, Cement, Telecom etc. 3. Finalize Company in your preferred Sector after due consultations with the Placement Department. 4. Update your Resume and get it approved by the Trainer.

5. Obtain the Application letter for the Project on the AIMS letterhead from the Placement Officer prior to the last date and promptly submit it to the Company.

6. Obtain the joining letter from the company on the company letter-head and submit it to the placement officer prior to the due date. 7. Finalize, as per your interest, the broad area and Objectives of the Project and get them approved by the Corporate & Faculty Guides. In some cases, topics may be given to you by your Corporate Guide or Supervisor. 8. Carry out your Project work as per the procedure told to you and attend weekly meetings with your Faculty Guide.

9. Prepare the Project Report as per the guidelines given to you and submit the project report positively before the due date.
10. Give a 15 min of Power-Point Presentation on your Project Work and appear in Viva-Voce in the First Week of December, 2012.

LAYOUT/CONTENTS OF THE PROJECT REPORT:

Appendices (Feed-back forms; statistical calculations; any other material in support of your findings ) 13. RULES & REGULATIONS:


1. You are advised to carry out your project within Guwahati and in organizations from the private sector rather than the public sector. 2. You must obtain the Application letter for the Project on the AIMS letter-head from the Placement Officer prior to the last date. Please note that only one Application Letter will be issued to a student.

3. You must promptly submit this letter to the company/organization where your project work is finalized.
4. You must carry their student Id card, Resume and letter from AIMS on your joining date. 5. The project work should be done under a competent Manager from the organization where the student has undergone the internship. A certificate from the organization must be submitted along with the project.

6. Obtain the joining letter from the company on the company letterhead and submit it to the placement officer prior to the due date. 7. You must be in regular touch with your faculty guide, corporate guide as well as the placement officer throughout the training period through weekly meetings.

8. After the completion of the project report, obtain a certificate from the concerned organization as well as AIMS on the letterhead. Keep the originals with you and attach the scanned copies in the project reports.
9. Submit the project report positively before the due date. Please Note: Projects not confirming to the above standards, will be rejected by the Institute.

TYPING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Typing must be done black in color.

2. The font and size: 12 point Times New Roman with bold letters wherever necessary(Headings and Sub-headings) to be used uniformly throughout the project report.
3. A sub-heading at the bottom of a page must have at least two full lines below it or else it should be carried over to the next page. 4. The last word of any page should not be split using a hyphen. 5. One and a half spacing should be used for typing the general text.

6. Single spacing should be used for typing for the following: (i) Long Tables (ii) Long quotations (iii) Foot notes (iv) Multiline captions/Headings (v) References 7. One and a half (1.5) spacing should be used for typing the Bona-fide Certificate, Preface and Acknowledgement.

8. Self-Declaration, Preface and Acknowledgement must all bear the signature of the student.

NUMBERING INSTRUCTIONS: PAGE NUMBERING


1. All pages numbers (whether it is in Roman or Arabic numbers) should be typed without punctuation on the lower right hand corner. 2. The Cover Page will not be numbered 3. The preliminary pages of the project report (such as Preface, Acknowledgement, Table of Contents etc.) should be numbered in lower case Roman numerals. 4. The Title page will be numbered but this should not be typed. The page immediately following the title page shall be numbered as already specified. 5. Pages of main text, starting with Chapter 1 should be consecutively numbered using Arabic numerals.

Numbering of Chapters, Divisions and Sub-Divisions


The numbering of chapters, divisions and sub-divisions should be done, using Arabic numerals only and further decimal notation should be used for numbering the divisions and sub-divisions within a chapter. For example, sub-division 4 under division 3 belonging to chapter 2 should be numbered as 2.3.4. The caption for the sub-division should immediately follow the number assigned to it. There must be a cover page before the beginning of each chapter. Every chapter beginning with the first chapter should be serially numbered using Arabic numerals. Appendices included should also be numbered in an identical manner starting with Appendix 1.

Numbering of Tables and Figures


1. Tables and Figures appearing anywhere in the project report should bear appropriate numbers. 2. For e.g. if a figure in Chapter 3, happens to be the fourth then assign 3.4 to that figure. 3. Identical rules apply for tables except that the word Figures is replaced by the word Table. 4. If figures (or tables) appear in appendices then figure 3 in Appendix 2 will be designated as Figure 2.3. 5. If a table to be continued into the next page, no line should be drawn underneath an unfinished table. The top line of the table continued into the next page should, for example read Table 2.1 (continued) placed centrally and underlined.

PAGE DIMENSIONS & BINDING SPECIFICATIONS:


1. The project report should be of A4 size. 2. Project report submitted for MBA should be bound using flexible cover of thick white art paper. 3. The cover should be printed in black letters and the text for printing should be identical to what has been prescribed for the title page. SIZE OF PROJECT REPORT: The size of project report should not exceed 80 pages of typed matter reckoned from the first page of Chapter 1 to the last page.

NUMBER OF COPIES TO BE SUBMITTED:


You are required to prepare FOUR (4) copies of the Project Reports. One copy should be submitted to the organization in which they have carried out their internship. Three copies should be submitted to the HOD of the PostGraduate Department of Management on or before the specified date. The Head of the Department will send:

(i) One copy for onward transmission to the PTU (ii) One copy to the Post-Graduate Departmental Library (iii) One copy to the student concerned.

PROJECT EVALUATION (200 Marks):


A. Evaluation by the Project Panel: 100 Marks Department of Management (PG) will evaluate the project reports submitted by the students. The students will make a 15 minute presentation before the Department regarding the project work undertaken, which will be followed by Viva-Voce by the Panel. Panel will constitute the following members: HOD, Department of Management (PG) Project Guides Subject Specialist Faculties Placement Officer Trainers B. Evaluation (Feedback) by the Corporate Guide: 100 Marks

CONDUCT & DISCIPLINE:


1. The students are required to abide by the rules of the organization where they are undergoing their training. 2. The corporate organization will be taking a strong view of the punctuality and behavior of the student during the training and therefore the student is required to be on his/her best behavior and inculcate the good norms of the organization. 3. In case a student has to take leave of absence, he/she has to take necessary permission from the organization and the faculty guide before he/she proceeds on leave.

4. In case the student is to take up project based work at the instance of the company he/she should conduct it to his/her best capabilities under the guidance of the faculty guide and the corporate guide. 5. No student should try to copy or use information in such a way that will project false and baseless for the company. 6. All students are required to maintain strict confidentiality of any information they come across in the organizations in course of their training. 7. The student involved in any malpractice shall be duly penalized.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Executive Summary gives a summarized account of the original research work undertaken by the MBA Students during the Internship. It illustrates in an organized and logical manner, the Research Methodology adopted, research findings, inferences and recommendation, as well as their meaningful associations, thus fitting in the various disjointed pieces of information, in the form of a big picture. Around 500-600 words long narration highlighting the project /research methodology and providing insight into various components. Paragraphs may or may not be titled.
