Founded: April 4, 1923 Warner Bros. Studios began when the brothers Warner (Albert, Sam, Harry and Jack L.) incorporated their new movie company on April 4, 1923. Today, the vast Warner Bros. library, considered one of the most prestigious and prodigious in the world, consists of more than 6,650 feature films, 40,000 television titles and 14,000 animated titles (including over 1,500 classic animated shorts). In 1903 the brothers began to travel and make films, by 1908 they had managed to gain 200 film titles Their first full-scale picture, "My Four Years in Germany," based on the best-selling book , premiered in 1918 and grossed an amazing $1.5 million. Later that year, the Warner brothers purchased property at 5842 Sunset Boulevard for $25,000, and the Warner Bros. West Coast Studios was born. although Warner Bros. was now established as a complete film company, showcasing both successful commercial and artistic properties, it lacked company-owned theaters and thus struggled to compete in the Hollywood community. Within the following years they produced a vast amount of popular films. The 1990s was a seminal decade for the Studio, starting with the 1990 merger of Warner Communications, Inc. and Time Inc. to form Time Warner, Inc., one of the world's largest communications and entertainment companies. Pictures. Warner Bros. Pictures' $1.6 billion in international receipts led all studios and was both a new record for Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as the second-highest gross ever from a major studio. 2003 -Warner Home Video was number one in overall market share, and Warner Bros. The film was also released in the discontinued HD/DVD format, and then on Blue-ray disc. These releases include featurettes on the shooting and production of the film, as well as the isolated score. The film was nominated for AFIs 10 top 10 in the "Animation" genre.

How are the films marketed


Harry Potter is associated with four aspects of the commercial market - literature, films, electronic media, and toys. Bloomsbury, Scholastic and Rain coast Books have the responsibility of publishing each Harry Potter novel and distributing them to book and department stores worldwide. EA Games has the responsibility of creating video games of each novel for gaming platforms. E.g. PC, Sony PlayStation, PlayStation2, Xbox, and PSP. Mattel and Lego have created toys and released them to the public. Harry Potter books have been published in 200 countries and translated into 47 languages Developing from a local, to a national, to a global level.

How are the films marketed


Warner brothers have a harry potter section in an universal studio theme park which features rides designed around films they make, and it has its own Harry Potter section. It aims to resemble as many of the harry potter traditions as possible e.g. Butter Beer. Gift shops are also attached to this to promote the film and products in it.

Also universal have a studio tour of the Harry potter sets in London, which gives the public an insight to the magic behind the cameras and also has a big shop where you can buy props and other items which are seen in the film. This produces more money for warner bros and exposure through the tour and the shops.

What Types Of Films Do They Make?

Worked with DC in producing films like batman and took inspiration from the comics Founded: (DC Entertainments flagship brand, DC Comics, was founded in 1934) In September 2009, Warner Bros. announced that DC Comics would become a subsidiary of DC Entertainment They both worked together in producing a line of films on DC characters, for example: Batman, The Green Lantern, Superman etc. This converted DC Comics into DC entertainment working in collaboration with Warner Brothers.

What Types Of Films Do They Make?


The hobbit is considered to be an Action film. Post production- Music: composed, orchestrated, conducted and produced by Howard Shore, and the music will n be performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra as they was for The Lord of the Rings. Tickets to the film's midnight screenings in New Zealand sold out within minutes of going on sale.
This film was based on a series of books which also involves the characters from a previous popular film The Lord Of The Rings.

The films were filmed in 3D using Red Epic cameras.


The Hobbit will likely be the highest-budgeted film so far to be shot on Red Digital Cinema Camera Company's.

Certain films made are targeted at different age groups. For example films such as Lord of the rings is appropriate for all ages but the older generation takes more of an interest in it, as well as the more educated group of people. Where as certain films and programs are not appropriate due to actions and language in it, such as sex in the city. This is why programs like these are shown later at night when adults are awake.

Many of our films, television programs, and games can be enjoyed by people of all ages. In some cases, however, our content is suitable primarily for adults. Warner Bros. takes an additional step, further than the normal ratings such as PG, and uses its own internal guidelines to further inform how its mature-themed films are advertised. 35% of the expected target audience is under the age of 17. The TV ratings system divides shows into eight different categories based on viewer maturity and use this to guidance to help determine appropriate scheduling times for programming and to determine whether parental advisories should be included before programs begin airing.
