Shots we plan to Use

Ciaran Toner

Close Up

This is a shot very close to the characters face. This allows the audience to see his emotions and allow for a better interpretation of how the character is feeling. We will be using this in our work as it allows us to show the audience how Jason is feeling and our song is quite down-beat meaning that it is important that the audience know when he is sad.

High Angle Shot

This is a shot taken above the character. This shot makes it look like you are looking down on the character. This shot makes someone look weaker as it makes them look smaller than they are. We will be using this in our project as we want the audience to pity Jason and in order to do this we are going to have to make him look as weak as possible.

Point of View Shot This is a shot taken from the characters point of view that allows you to see what the character is seeing at the time. We will be using this in our video as we want the audience to see Jasons struggle and in order to do this we are going to show them exactly what Jason is seeing at the time. Over the Shoulder Shot

This is a shot taken over the should of Jason and this allows you to see the emotions and reactions of the person he is speaking too. We will be using this in our project as the emotions of the characters he is talking to can be important in certain scenes for example when he is arguing in the house.

Mid-Shot This is a shot of the persons body as well as there face. This gives the audience more of an impression of the character. We will be using this in our music video as in some of our scenes Jasons body language is just as important the emotions as Jasons face and we want to portray this to our audience.

Very Wide Shot

This is a shot that allows you to see the scenery around the character and at times the character is barely visible. We will be using this in our project as it shows the audience the scenery around the character and we want to be able to portray the tone of the scene from scenery as well as the music.

Two Shot

This is a shot that clearly shows two people in it and usually portrays characters. We will be using this in our characters to show the contrast in different characters for example Jason will be very poor so we may have him next to someone who is better off than him. This goes with the Binary Opposition theory.

Weather Shot

This is a shot that just shows the weather of the scene. This can be useful as it can help portray a negative or positive atmosphere without seeing the actual scene yet. We will be using this in our music video when we are portraying rainy weather to set up a somewhat negative atmosphere in our video.

Cut-Away

This is a shot of something that may not have much to do with what is actually going on in the video. We will be using this in our video to show what is going on around Jason at points in time without actually leaving the scene.

Extreme Close-Up

This is a shot of someones eyes and allows the audience to see right into there eyes and gives you a better idea of what the character is feeling at the time.
