Introduction Of Company
Mediterranean Shipping Company(MSC) Established in year 1970 in Geneva Switzerland.

MSC is a private owned Shipping Line.


MSC is the Second largest carrier in the aspect of container slot Capacity and the number of container Vessel operated.

In the end of the December MSC was operating 434 container vessel with the intake capacity of 2,174,000 TEUs(Twenty Equivalent Units).

MSC is the leading provider of the direct port calls, serving the 6 continents and calling at 335 ports through 200 direct and combined weekly linear services. MSC provide the online tracking and tracing service to the customer.

MSC as a liner Shipping


MSC liner shipping refers to maritime transport services that are provided on a regularly scheduled basis to pre-determined ports. Ships involved in these trades can be general cargo carriers, specialised cargo carriers (e.g. car carriers or refrigerated goods carriers) and/or partially or fully dedicated container carriers.

Four important characteristics of liner shipping:


Fully containerised vessels represent an important part of the general cargo fleet and carry a large majority of containerised trade Top 20 liners account for 72% of world container capacity; the top 5 account for 34%

Bill of Lading
Bill of lading is a document which is issued by the shipping company acknowledging that the goods mentioned there have placed an board the ship and an undertaking that the goods in like order and condition as received will be delivered to the consignee, provided that the freight their has been duly paid

Bill of lading is a receipt for goods delivered to the common carrier for transportation ,a contract for the services rendered by the carrier, and a document for a tittle . Normally 4 copies of BL is there but 3 copies are required for the consignee, shipper and the consignor.

If the consignee loose the bill of lading than the delivery will stop by MSC than there are three steps for delivery of goods Bank guarantee letter Deposit of 150% of invoice value in bank NOC letter from both shipper and consignee

Multimodal Transport Act


Multimodal transport means that the consignor and the multimodal transport operator entered into a contract for the multimodal transportation and the multimodal operator has taken charges of the goods to be delivered to the destination.
