Stages of Fire
Incipient Stage: decomposition due to some form of heat, invisible to eyes. Smoldering: 10% of decomposing products are released at surface, visible Flaming Stage: vapours from decomposing fuel ignite, flames are self propagating Heat Stage: burning progresses
Classes of Fire
Class A: (Combustible Solids). Fires involving solid material of an organic nature, carbon compounds such as wood, paper, cloth , etc Class B: (Combustible Liquids). Fires involving liquids or liquefiable solids such as, petrol, oil, paint, fat, thinners Class C: (Combustible Gases & Electronic equipments): Fires involves gases in either vapor or liquefied form.: Methane, propane, butane etc Class D: (Combustible Metals). Fire involving metals such as magnesium, aluminum, sodium or potassium

FIRE EVACUATION
ON HEARING THE CONTINUOUS ALARM GUESTS SHOULD: evacuate by the nearest exit, as per fire plan. not stop to collect personal belongings. walk calmly but with a sense of urgency. not use the lifts. go immediately to their Fire Assembly Point and remain with their colleagues. not re-enter the building until the all clear has been given. maintain calm and help front office in mustering.

Housekeeping:
One Fire Marshal will start directing the guest towards fire exits. Floor Marshal will start putting ( X ) mark on the doors of the rooms which are vacant. House keeping will always keep colored chalk and a torch in their pantry. Special attention will be given to the elderly , handicapped, children and sick guests during evacuation. Remove all vulnerable material, luggage and linen from the affected area

Front Office:
FOM will set up a Medical Aid post at safer place. Hotel Doctor will be immediately called. Ambulance will be called for evacuation of casualties, after getting instructions from the Control Desk (GM). Occupancy list will be ready for mustering at Lawns. Arrangements of transportation and alternate accommodation for guests, if required Secure cash and important documents.

F&B Service:
F&B Manager along with Outlet Managers and staff will evacuate the guests to the safe area. He will also be responsible for coordinating refreshment arrangements in the guest safe area, as feasible. He will ensure that no panic is spread amongst the guests in the guest safe area. Restaurant Manager will ensure the safe custody of cash and relevant data from all outlets. Special care will be taken to evacuate guests from the banquet areas by Banquet Manager if so.

Kitchen:
The Executive Chef / Ex. Sous Chef on duty will be responsible to switch off all electricity and gas supply to all areas of the entire kitchen. They will also ensure removal of all inflammable material from the kitchen. Prepare a list of employees on duty and convey the same to the HR Deptt. Keep minimum staff in operational areas and rest will be directed to fire control center on HR instructions.

All HODs/ Seniors most persons present will be responsible to intimate the names of the staff members involved in fire fighting.
HR will remain in touch with fire control center to provide any manpower to support fire fighting team.

Engineering:
Engineering department will man all installations, as feasible. Will switch off gas supply to all areas and isolate fuel tanks. Be ready to switch off electricity supply to affected areas, if required. Will ensure maintenance of sufficient water level required in fire tank, for the fire operations. Will ground all lifts as per the procedure.

Accounts:
Financial Controller with the help of Systems will ensure proper backup of data and removal of cash and documents, in case of fire near their area. Call for necessary photographers and respective insurance surveyors for completing the insurance formalities, as necessary. All employees of the department not involved in fire fighting will report to the HR for further instructions.

Others:
All other employees not involved directly with the fire fighting operations will muster at a point for further instructions from the Fire Control Center. Security along with available staff will ensure safety of the hotel property, its guests and staff by ensuring effective cordoning of the entire complex. Security staff will render all necessary assistance to the fire brigade tenders and police, when called for.
