Server Configuration: Enables you to define and control the behavior of your Siebel enterprise Server Management: Enables you to manage and monitor the day-to-day operations of your Siebel enterprise

Define Component Definitions

Tailor existing components or create custom components using 1. In the Components these steps:
Definitions list, select and copy the component definition of interest

2. For the copied record, change the name, alias, and type fields

4. Enable the new component definition

3. In the Component Parameters list, make the desired changes

Reconfigure Component Definitions

Is accomplished through the Component Definitions applet drop-down menu Start Reconfiguration:
Opens existing component parameters for modification

Commit Reconfiguration:
Commits the updated Component Definition

Cancel Reconfiguration:
Cancels the current reconfiguration, component definition remains unaltered

Synchronize Components

A required post-installation task for executing components on the Siebel Server


Makes enabled components available to the Siebel Enterprise

Navigate to Administration Server Configuration > Enterprises

1. Select the Synchronize view tab 2. Click the Synchronize button

Set Server Event Logging

Use the Server Event Configuration view to set the log level of Siebel Server event types
Select the Siebel Server for which you want to configure an event

Select the event type you want to configure and enter the value in the log level field

Set Component Event Logging

Use the Component Event Configuration view to set the log level of component event types
Select the component for which you want to configure an event

Select the event type you want to configure and enter the value in the log level field

Use Component Alerts

Traps information about the failure of tasks and unavailability of components and sends an email alert to the Administrator Examples:
A component fails to restart Critical system throughput thresholds are hit

Additional alerts and parameters can be set up

1. Select the System Alerts folder from the Enterprise Explorer tree

2. Define new system alerts and alert parameters

Create and Define Job Templates

Create and define job templates for repeating jobs that have unchanging parameters
Navigate to Administration Server Configuration > Job Templates

1. Click New to create a new template

3. Click New to create a new parameter

2. Select component to be used 4. Set parameters

Back Up the Enterprise Configuration

Use Server Manager to back up a working copy of siebns.dat


1. Navigate to Administration Server Configuration 2. Locate the backup in the Administration directory of the Siebel Server root directory

Restore the Enterprise Configuration

Restore a previous Enterprise configuration with these steps:


1. Shutdown the Siebel Gateway Name Server and the Siebel Server 2. Replace the existing siebns.dat file with a working backup 3. Start the Siebel Gateway Name Server and the Siebel Server

Monitor Servers, Components, or Tasks

State icons indicate the state of a server, component, or task


Can be used with component alerts to notify the system administrator in the event a component is not in a normal state

Navigate to Administration Server Management > Jobs

1. Create a new Job
