About Us
Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) is an Educational Trust in India with a vision to contribute to the empowerment of Indian women by supporting academically outstanding and financially challenged girls, through Scholarship to pursue higher education.
Most working women employed in agricultural and informal sectors and very few in highly skilled professions.

Education is an undisputed tool of empowerment Education plays an important role in shaping and flourishing the capacities of girls at an individual level. It enables her to gain more knowledge about the world and helps to reclaim her space in social life. It gives her a voice, a tool to get status, self esteem and inner strength to face challenges in life. With education, a girl gains increased level of articulation, economic independence, knowledge and awareness about health, nutrition, reproductive rights, law and literacy.
"I learnt to stand up for myself and for my rights. I learnt how to be a fighter and not to quit even in a male-dominated household We were not very welloff then. And although my brothers had to take up a job to support the family, my mother impressed upon me, never to compromise on my education.

Padmashree Lila Poonawalla is the pioneer as well as the driving force behind the Foundation.
She continues to work as a board members with different companies.
Mrs. Poonawalla recognized the need of providing financial assistance to young deserving girls for their higher education.
With the generous support of the Rausing Family, owners of the Tetra Laval Group Worldwide, she laid the groundwork of Lila Poonawalla Foundation in 1994 and started scholarships from 1996.
1. Foundation has introduced scholarship for engineering students for their 4 year program. 2. 178 deserving girls have been gifted this scholarship
1. Foundation launched another scholarship program for Pure Sciences. 144 scholarships have been awarded to deserving girls. 2. School Program called 2morrow2gether was started with the objective of supporting financially challenged girls, to support them from 7th Std. until their graduation. 230 deserving girls are already part of this program. 1. Foundation launched additional scholarship program for Diploma in Education & Engineering, as well as Graduation in Physiotherapy & Nursing. 2. 109 Scholarships have been given in these new areas of education.

Selection Process
Application forms and supplementary documents are invited from interested candidates A special software used for entering data and computing points to each candidates based on her academic performance and family income
After that an award function is held where a prominent individual is invited as the chief guest. Once the girl receives the scholarship she becomes a part of the Lila FAMILY for lifetime. She is called Lila FELLOW or Lila GIRL or Lila Juniors and receives support and mentoring right through her career and also personal life problems, including through her sickness.

D.Ed Program
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: 25 years Families total annual income not to be exceed Rs. 2, 00,000/- per annum. Minimum 60% marks in 10th& 12th standard. The scholarship amount will be decided on merit and need but will not exceed Rs. 25,000/- per year. Duration 2 Year (Continued each year if candidate secures minimum 60% marks in each academic year). The candidates who will take admission in our selected seven colleges are eligible to apply.
D.ED Program is being launched in 2012. Total of 17 Scholarships are given this year under D.ED Program of LPF Course focuses on to make more teachers available for English language so that the standard of primary education can improve.
Physiotherapy
Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: 25 years Families total annual income not to be exceed Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum. Minimum 60% marks in 10th& 12th standard. The scholarship amount will be decided on merit and need but will not exceed Rs. 1,00,000/- per year. Duration 4.5 Year (Continued each year if candidate secures minimum 60% marks in each academic year). The candidates who will take admission in our selected three colleges are eligible to apply.
Physiotherapy program is being launched in 2012. Total of 11 Scholarships are given this year under Physiotherapy Program of LPF
Course focuses on specialties including sports, wound care, EMG, cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, neurologic, orthopaedic and paediatrics.
Nursing
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: 25 years Families total annual income not to be exceed Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum. Candidate should have secured minimum 60% marks in 10th& 12th standard. The scholarship amount will be decided on merit and need but will not exceed Rs. 1,00,000/- per year. Duration 4 Year (Continued each year if candidate secures minimum 60% marks in each academic year). The candidates who will take admission in our selected two colleges are eligible to apply
Nursing program is being launched in 2012. Total of 31 Scholarships are given this year under Nursing Program of LPF Course focuses on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life
Diploma in Engineering
Age Limit: 25 years Familys total annual income not to be exceed Rs. 2, 00,000/- per annum. Candidate should have secured minimum 60% marks in 10th standard. The scholarship amount will be decided on merit and need but will not exceed Rs. 50,000/- per year. The scholarship is for a period of three academic years and will be continued each year subject to the candidate passing in all subjects and securing a minimum overall 60% marks each academic year in the same college. The candidates who will take admission in any college in Pune district are eligible to apply.
Total of 47 Scholarships are given this year under Diploma in Engineering Program of LPF Course focuses on knowledge of basic engineering, scientific, computing and mathematical techniques
Architecture
Age Limit: 25 years Familys total annual income not to be exceed Rs. 2, 00,000/- per annum. Candidate should have secured minimum 60% marks in 10th standard. The scholarship amount will be decided on merit and need but will not exceed Rs. 50,000/- per year. The scholarship is for a period of three academic years and will be continued each year subject to the candidate passing in all subjects and securing a minimum overall 60% marks each academic year in the same college. The candidates who will take admission in any college in Pune district are eligible to apply.
Total of 3 Scholarships are given this year under D.ED Program of LPF
