Introduction
Part of environmental philosophy It exerts influence on a large range of disciplines Ethical decisions made with respect to the environment, eg Should we continue to clear cut forests for the sake of human consumption? Should we continue to propagate? Should we continue to make gasoline powered vehicles?, etc..
Different approaches to support environment responsibility Anthropocentrism approach Anxiological approach Eco- centric approach
Governmental Concerns
The two huge tasks faced by the governments are: (1.) designing strategies to allow for future growth, while protecting the environment, maintaining biodiversity, safeguarding human health, and preserving cultural/ social values. and (2.) determining how to clean up problems, restore natural resources, and achieve human health protection.
Industrial Challenges:
For eg: The mineral resource industries (mining and oil and gas) have generally embraced the concepts of sustainable development and preservation biodiversity, but putting sustainability and biodiversity concepts into play is a work-inprogress for most companies
Pollution
Air pollution Water pollution Land pollution Noise pollution
AIR POLLUTION
Road dust contributes to 33% of air pollution In cities like Banglore, 50% children are suffering from asthama Major factor for pollution is transport system Electric risckshaws are being designed Excessive pollution is also having adverse effect on Taj Mahal

Larger organizations like companies, corporations, and government are making systemic changes that will have a larger ripple effect throughout all of society. Apple is now advertising their Mac mini as one of the first truly green computers.
It is well known that a traditional BTS is composed of many modules, including base-band, RF, combiner, transmission, operation and management The modular design is an innovative and new type of BTS, which simplifies wiring between different modules and enables the BTS to be stacked or assembled in different ways like a building block.
Green BTS is an effective means of ensuring profitability and assisting operators to rapidly lower the TCO in an increasingly competitive environment.
In new growth markets like India, operators have increased their focus in this area and are working with the likes of Nokia Siemens Networks to evaluate green products. IT and facilities professionals need to collaborate in approaching the issues of anthropogenic environmental impacts of a given business operation.
While IT vendors are increasing their spending on green initiatives, IT end-users still have little awareness of what Green IT is and how it can help their businesses. Many end-users in Asia see green IT as just another additional cost, and they still need to be educated on how it can benefit their organization
