GYPSUM IS FIRE PROTECTIVE Gypsum is non-combustible and able to delay a fires spread up to 4 hours. Gypsum acts, in that case, as a fire barrier and thus reduces home or business fire damage. GYPSUM REGULATES SOUND Gypsum walls, ceilings and floors together with insulation materials create quiet zones in the house or business environment. They are designed to provide a physical barrier to sound, incorporate a sound break and minimize reverberation GYPSUM EQUILIBRATES HUMIDITY AND HEAT PEAKS Gypsum is capable of storing humidity when a room is humid and automatically releasing this humidity if the indoor air becomes too dry. Plasterboards have also a heat-storing ability. Small temperature increases are absorbed and radiated back later when the temperature in the room decreases GYPSUM IS EASY TO INSTALL AND TO DISMANTLE To construct an internal wall, for example, a frame is erected, plasterboard is fitted to it, joints are filled, and the wall is created. The operation is fast, clean, dry and uncomplicated. GYPSUM IS MULTIFACETED, MULTIPURPOSE, SUPPLE AND AESTHETIC A richness of forms can be created in plasterboard or stucco. For architects, building with gypsum products allows them to unleash their creativity thus allowing them to answer to the demands of their customer whist keeping within an affordable budget.

APPLICATION OF GYPSUM IN BUILDINGS

Gypsum building materials are used in all construction types (residential, non-residential, new or refurbished), ranging from complex high-tech systems to easy to install products adapted for use by the general public. More than 1,500 million m2 of European interior surfaces are covered every year with plasterboards, blocks or plaster. PLASTERBOARD It is used for partitions and the lining of walls, ceilings, roofs and floors. The properties of plasterboard can be modified to meet specific requirements, such as fire resistance, humidity resistance, impact resistance, etc. GYPSUM FIBREBOARDS Gypsum fiberboard is used for partitions and the lining of walls, ceilings, roofs and floors. Standard Gypsum fiberboard offers good performance when it comes to impact resistance, sound insulation and humidity resistance. GYPSUM-BASED SELF-LEVELLING SCREEDS Anhydrite or Alpha-Hemihydrates are used in the production of self-levelling floor screeds. PLASTER BLOCKS Gypsum blocks are used for partitions and Gypsum tiles for ceilings. DECORATIVE PLASTER Plaster powder, mixed with water, manually or through the use of silo-supplied spray systems, are used to create an effective and aesthetically-pleasing lining for brick and block walls, and for ceilings. Gypsums adaptability in application lends itself to moulding and shaping. Since time immemorial, Gypsum has been used by skilled craftsmen to create decorative plaster mouldings. USES OF GYPSUM
Be an ingredient in many patching compounds; Be used as a filler and fire retardant in plastic products; Be used in Portland cement and special cement products for set and expansion control; Drywall, the finish for walls and ceilings, is made of gypsum (called Gypsum Board). Gypsum is also used as one ingredient in plaster. Some clay courts in tennis are often binded by gypsum. In other words, the gypsum helps bind the clay to make the surface faster and dryer. Plaster of Paris is made by heating gypsum. This is used to make surgical splints and casting molds. Gypsum is one component of Portland cement. It prevents flash (fast) setting of concrete.
