Political aspects of governance and decision making within educational systems and institutions, and political activities related to education in general.

EDUCATION MISSION IN MALAYSIA

Provide quality education for all. Transformation of education skill from memorising (what) to creative and innovative thinking ( how) To narrow the education gap between rural and urban areas. Develop human capital with holistic individual character. Strengthen the national unity through integration of all races and common values. Effective assessment and evaluation system less exam based and more on assessments during the year. Teacher quantity and quality and favorable promotion and welfare system . Joint research projects and sharing of innovation ideas between schools and institutions.

IMPACT OF POLITICS IN MALAYSIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM

Politics play a dominant role. Needs and interests of Malaysian politicians are catered first as against students and nation as a whole eg teaching of maths and science in English. Fear of Bahasa losing ground to English. Loss of a generation of competent students in English resulting in overtaking by other Asean countries. Dismal performance of the government in 2008 election is main reason why government gives way to political pressure. Tough decision making with sound explanation is the only way out for Malaysia to advance regionally and worldwide.

IMPACT OF POLITICS .CONTD

Primary schools less influence. Secondary schools and varsities political battle ground for government and opposition forces. Too many policy changes in education education system becomes fragmented and muddled impacts progress towards mission. Politics and education do not and should not mix if we want a first class knowledge based productive workforce. Whole purpose of education create pool of educated workforce, critical thinkers who can make wise decisions in life that benefits society and nation.

FINLANDS EDUCATION SYSTEM

Worlds best education system. No political interference in education system politicians believe that teachers play a major role in bringing forth skilled students for industry and nation. Teacherpreneurs class room experts who not only teach but are action researchers to reform their profession. The best 10-15% of cream students become teachers and are paid well for retention purpose. Industrial experience preferred .

FINLAND EDUCATION SYSTEM.

Part time study and distance learning encouraged with scholarship provided and bonded to improve personal development. Collaboration among teachers share experience , ideas and research to update their curriculum. Collaboration between teachers and parents update on progress of students. Take an interest in every student for teachers can touch eternity.

IMPROVEMENT OF EDUCATION SYSTEM IN SAITO

Strong moral and welfare support from SAITO. Teachers should be sent for external courses and training so that they can learn new methods and best practices and let critical thinking replace spoon feeding. More collaboration with fellow teachers share experiences and ideas and update our teaching materials. More collaboration with parents keep check on students discipline and update on learning progress.

IMPROVEMENTS IN SAITO
More industrial exposure for students. DSM subjects practical library where students can apply their theory learnt in class. Collaboration between learning institutions - to share innovation, ideas and projects. Can hold quiz, tests or debates to expose students. Far vision with regard to curriculum since fast paced technology will pose a challenge to us. Vision -BEST DSM provider in Malaysia. Assessment should engage more in verbal/written assessments. More teamwork and less indulgence in politics.
