PERFECT TENSE
The present perfect tense is used to show:
an action in the past ( the exact time of the action is not known) and the effect can be seen in the present.
we form the present perfect tense by: has / have + past participle
Example: Hassan has closed the gate. has + past participle of close
we often use just, already and yet with the present perfect tense
Example: We have just / already cooked dinner. We have not eaten dinner yet.
PERFECT TENSE
The past perfect tense is used to show:
an action that was completed further back in time
e.g.
I had done my homework when he called. Mother had cooked the dinner before I reached home.
an event that might have taken place.
e.g. If she had driven more carefully, she would not have had the accident.
Note: We formed the past perfect tense by: HAD + PAST PARTICIPLE.
