EPABX stands for electronic private automatic branch exchange. It is an electronic switching device whose basic function is internal & external communication with PSTN. Its configuration tells us about its connecting capacity with C.O line & subscribers for e.g. . EPABX 308 means one can convert 3 telephone lines and 08 subscribers to EPABX.

The term PBX was first applied when switchboard operators ran company switchboards by hand. As automated electromechanical and then electronic switching systems gradually began to replace the manual systems, the terms PABX (private automatic branch exchange)

and PMBX (private manual branch exchange) were used to differentiate them. Solid state digital systems were sometimes referred to as EPABXs (electronic private automatic branch exchange). Now, the term PBX is by far the most widely recognized.

A central off exchange can accommodate 10,000 subscribers. PBX systems are typically designed to accommodate from 20 to 10,000 subscribers or station

The C.O lines can be divided in two groups if required & different extensions can be allowed to access different type of C.O lines. The C.O lines of different group are accessed by 0&9 respectively.

This program is used to control the access to zero group or nine group or both. Zero group for subscribers:- This program is used to control the access to zero group for subscribers weather subscriber is allowed to pick zero group telephone lines or not this is decided by this program.

No Access:Access:Nine group access:- This program is used to control the access to nine group for subscribers weather subscriber is allowed to pick nine group telephone lines or not this is decided by this program.

You can set different modes of incoming C.O calls for each C.O lines independently. The incoming C.O calls rings in round robin sequence at up to four preprogrammed extensions.

We can program desired extension to receive incoming call in night time when there is no operator sitting. All the lines will have same landing point and sequence by using program.

Shifting day/night mode:-P.W+100/101 for day/night. (Name of a Programme)

This program is used to dedicate particular co line for incoming calls only reserved line will not be selected for outgoing call from any subscriber. This can be done using the a program. e.g.

This program enables access of C.O lines just by dialing address only . 0 or 9 access should be disable before activating this program. This can be done using following program. P.W +57+EXTN+0/1 0:- Direct access is off 1:- Direct access is on

To set different pick up group for picking of call one extension can not be part of two group. This can be done using following program P.W + 53 + EXTN + 0-----9 0-----9
