Purpose of field test display application

FTD variant is important tool to optimize Nokia devices functionality with operator networks. FTD application is made for analysing terminal and network behaviour. There is a need to have special variant of N95 product available for operators technical personnel, which contains the specific Field Test Display application (FTD). Mega operators can ensure Nokia devices optimal functionality with their networks after each network upgrade and configuration change. Smaller operators does not get special testing support from Nokia. For them FTD variant is very important way the verify the terminal and network compatibility.

S60 Field Test Application

The application is shown in main menu with a special icon. Name of the application is always Test (see below) Clicking the icon starts the application in screen1.1 (see below). Different screens can be selected with navigation key or calling a screen directly with a code e.g. 8010 The FTD Application can show real time status of hundreds of different network related parameters. Phone related parameters are not shown in the operator version of the FTD.

FTD user guide in paper format Nokia Helpline / careline support is not available for FTD specific questions Consumer Warranty & support. I.e. software update in any Nokia care point, Swap phones etc. Alternative language packages with FTD Support for all sales software releases. Availability of maintenance release is decided case by case.

Standard order & delivery process will be used. I.e. Nokia sales company orders the code from the production. No special handling in Salo is arranged for FTD order codes. FTD variant is Make to order only. No stock will be kept for these variants. Locally sales companies must ensure that the FTD order code is not visible/available for retail orders, only direct operator shipments (for operator technical personnel) are allowed. FTD variant is now available only for 11.0.26 sofware release. This needs to be used regardless of the operator approval for the software. PAT (Product Approval Tool) may show different SW for the operator to be used for normal products, but FTD is not available for all sales software releases. Sales Company Responsibility when Selling FTD

Ensure the FTD variant is not sold to end-users, it is only meant for operator personnel for network testing purposes Account manager / local product manager is the primary support person for each operator Provide the operator with the FTD user guide in electronic form (PDF) Provide extra chargers/adapters if Euro charger is not valid for the market Make sure that the customer has agreed to FTD sales agreement and terms. Maintain paper copies of such agreements. Make sure the order code is not visible/available for retail orders, only direct operator shipments (for operator technical personnel) are allowed.
