SALTS

CATIONS
NEED for RELATIONSHIP Give away electrons & form +vely charged ions As we go down reactivity increases L to R reactivity decreases Feel incomplete & need a relationship to support them
Dependent

& passive

So, Natrums are more reactive than Magnesiums Kalis (1:family) is more reactive than Natrums (1:1)

GROUP IA = Na., K. Forming relationships Emotional needs Gives 1 electron

Group IIA= Mg., Ca., Sr., Ba. Theme: Need for Support Material needs Gives 2 electrons

Magnesium feels like an orphan/ infant Calcarea is like a young child, feels need for security of a home Strontium is like a teenager who needs guidance Barium is like a young adult who has now to stand on his own feet. Feels a tremendous sense of incapacity & needs to be supported by the society

Magnesium: helplessness of an infant Calcium: Needs someone ahead of him, to protect him from outside world Strontium: Needs support from behind, just to guide and show the way Barium: No confidence to handle anything independently. Legs are cut

Group III= B., Al. Theme: Feeling of Confusion Gives 3 electrons

ANIONS
Effort to maintain relationship Accept electrons & form vely charged ions As we go down reactivity decreases R to L reactivity decreases Have to make effort to keep the electron with them/ to keep the relationship

Active

Bonds formed by Group 7 are stronger than those of Group 5. Halogens have to put in a very very strong effort, more than Group 5 (Phos) or Group 6 (Sulph) to maintain the relationship

Group V = P., As., Sb., Bi.

Theme: Being unloved and alone.

Fear, alone of being. Company desire for. Clinging.

Accepts 3 electrons

Phosphorus forms relationship with many Arsenic has mistrust, so limited relationship Antimony

Clings to attendants and repels others Averse to touch

Bismuth wants only the mother

Group VI = S., Se. Theme: Making enormous effort which is expected from them.

Company, aversion to. Incapacity to work.

Accepts 2 electrons

HALOGENS

Group VII= Halogens F., Cl., Br., I Theme: Being let down/ betrayed Accept 1 electron

Themes: Hardness of glands. Represents hard defensive posture Affects immune mechanism Tremendous activity, active metabolism, rapid emaciation, marked restlessness, etc. Feeling like a nation attacked by an enemy

Mentally & physically, halogens represents a strong defence with tremendous activity and mobilisation of forces, with the impulse to strike at the least provocation The intensity of the feeling increases with the heaviness of the element

Fluorine: Lightest, most active & reactive. Forms and breaks relationship very quickly. Need to be separate

Flirtatious, Buoyancy.

Superficial compared to other halogens. Syphilitic as extreme lightness is abnormal for humans

Chlorine: Concerned with deeper relationship than fluorine like deep friendships Rejection with disappointment & hurt Reluctant to enter a relationship

Mood, repulsive Danger seen as Fear of robbers Needs to be independent for care and nourishment

Bromine: Danger is more severe.

Del, jumped upon the ground before her, all sorts of things.

Feeling of being attacked with an intention of harm & not just to rob.

Concerned with breaking of still deeper ties. Feels flustered, disconcerted

Agitation with confusion

Iodine: Feeling are deepest Concerned with very deep relationships like those between parent and child Reactions are very violent Feeling as if starved by ones own parents Tremendous sense of betrayal, shock and disappointment

Coped up state: They would be to avoid breaking the relationship Halogens like other anions are Doers

Chlorine: Caring & nurturing.

Bromine: Has to fulfill the wishes of others. Obedient Duty conscious

Del, crime, he had committed-K.Br Industrious- K.Br Always busy- K.Br

Iodine: High sense of Duty and responsibility. Like mother for daughter

Dream that her daughter had fallen in a brook

HALOGENS THEMES:
Disappointment Betrayal Let down Starving

Broken Crumbling Burden Bound

Tied down Trapped Confined Better fresh air Free

Break free Jump Escape Impulse

Comparison of halogens in kali and calc salts

CALC FLUOR:

Dreams: Death of relatives JUMPING: BED, OUT OF: DREAMING, WHILE: WAKED HIM UP, WHICH.

He may suddenly find himself in a broken relationship on whom he is dependent for security. Fear of poverty. He needs to make his position strong.

Calcium: Security/ finance Fluorine: Lithium line of separation. Total separation. Calc Fl: Total separation though financially dependent.

E.g., death of a relative who is earning. Father will die or husband will leave. Crash of a bank.

KALI MUR:

Delusion, he must starve Fear, starving Quarrelsome with family

Starving: Natrum line. To do with nourishment and identity. Kali: Family theme.

She loves her children, does best for them, but also feels it is too much for her, so avoids being pregnant.
Burden Tied down

Kali wants family and children, but not getting care and nourishment or she does not want to give. Disappointment

She is not getting choice or not allowed to be herself. She wants to be independent for care and choice, but dependent for protection and security.

KALI BROM:

She needs home/ family, but the family becomes her jail. She want to break free, open out or escape.

Calc needs protection Brom feels attacked. In danger. E.g., child molestation. There is trapped (confined), sycotic feeling.

Trapped as she feels dependent for security (financial, protection) , but wants to break free as she senses danger (no security).

KALI IOD:

Leprous Abusive family Unfeeling/ hardhearted with the family.

Iodum: Danger from the unexpected, strange, new, threatening situation. He feels, no one is there to help and guide me.

Sudden, unexpected threat from own family on whom he is dependent for guidance. A/ F: Shock and disappointment. Cruel (leprous).

TIED DOWN & HALOGENS:

They dont want to be in that bond and want to leave.

DANGER AND HALOGENS:

Fluorine: Danger in remaining attached. Need to separate. Chlorine: Danger from the one you seek care and nourishment. Need to be independent for care.

Bromine: Danger from the one you seek protection. Need to break free from the confinement.
Iodine: Sudden unexpected danger and you are without help and guidance. You begin to stand on your own feet.

Halogens represent important milestones in the development of an individual. During these milestones the individual moves from one phase of his life to another.

These include:

Birth: Entering the new world (Like Strontium line). Developing identity. Infancy to childhood: Seeking security and protection.

Childhood to teens: Facing the new. Learning new skills. Teens to adulthood: Taking up responsibility.

One issue is over and the other starts. He feels tied down: He does not want to be in the present bond anymore. He wants to leave the previous and go to the next level.

These transition periods can be considered as critical periods in an individuals life journey.

The chances of developmental arrest and subsequent fixation are maximum during these periods.
This could be a reason why so many patients need halogens.

Fluorine: I am separate, but I dont know who I am. I have to develop my own identity.

Chlorine: I have my choice and identity, separate from others. Now this is not enough, I need to protect it.

Bromine: There is danger at home. It has become a jail. I feel trapped and confined. I need to break free, venture out and explore the new.

Iodum: Danger from the unexpected, strange, new, threatening situation. I feels, no one is there to help and guide me. I must become responsible and stand on my own feet.

Some notes on Iodum

Sankarans proving:

Feeling of sudden betrayal or threat which needs rapid intense activity to counter it
Bomber from enemy country Railway steam engine

Increased metabolism with tremendous hunger and eating

Phatak:
Ill effects of nervous shock and disappointed love

High sense of duty and responsibility Forgetful Compulsive neurosis Hurried, restless

Impulsiveness: Morbid violent impulses Impulsive, intense, sudden, violent anger

Great irritability Feeling let down Need for urgent action Sudden intense danger Violence and attacking

Love for travel Desire activity Very independent Haughtiness Often similar to Staphysagaria

Indignation

Iodum also has a feeling of being stabbed in the back Betrayal Kill, desire to

With a knife (though not in rubric)

Violent/ Violence Sudden, violent pains

Betrayal

Feeling of being stabbed in the back

It is best illustrated in the story of Julius Caesar. Brutus and his allies surround Caesar and stab him to death on 15th March 44 B.C. in a side corridor in Roman Senate. It is depicted in the following mural

Et tu Brutus, then fall Caesar.

Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare

Physicals

Better open air. Worse warm room Better moving, exerting Better eating. Worse fasting Hot. Better cold. Worse heat Emaciation, despite voracious appetite

Enlargement of glands Pulsations: Whole body, including finger tips, toes Weakness on ascending Thyroid: Exophthalmous goitre Allergy: Hay fever, nasal discharge Dark complexion and hair Leucorrhoea eats holes in the linen

Atrophy of sexual organs, undescended testes Violent palpitations/ Heart: Squeezed, gripped Burning sensation Asthma, laryngospasm Nail biting Rheumatism preceded by diarrhoea

My observation I have often prescribed salts of Iodum in cases of Bipolar disorders and Anorexia nervosa. Iodum produces severe intense and opposite feelings. Iodum also often comes up in my prescriptions of OCD cases

Many cases of stammering need Iodum salt

In the rubric stammering, Iodum is mentioned only in one mark. There is no mention of any other Iodum other than Ars. Iod (one mark)

Miasm: Leprous or Tubercular

1) Leprous
Feel rejected Feel dirty Dreams; excrements- smeared with
- soiling himself - wading in

2) Tubercular
Love

travel Independence Tremendous activity: Active metabolism, restlessness, hurried, rapid emaciation Like tubercular remedies destructive, rebellious

Issues:

Survival Starvation Betrayal Stabbed Violence Attack/ Defence

Responsibility Independence Acceptance Hatred Metabolism Dirty Leprous

Group IV = C., Si. Common feature: Non-reactive Neither give or take electrons but share them
