INTRODUCTION

Program Kelas Intervensi Asas Membaca dan Menulis (KIA2M) aims to help students who have not mastered reading and writing skills in Bahasa Melayu in Year One. This student group is comprised of those who delayed or have not mastered the basic skills of reading and writing. They are not just made up of a special needs students but also from among students who only need remedial classes.

FOCUS OF TEACHING AND LEANING STRATEGIES

Teaching and learning strategies of KIA2M involves the following steps:

After a thorough selection and admission screening test, the teachers who have been selected to handle this class will need to plan the lesson based on a prepared teaching module. Based on the modules, teachers can adapt the proposed activities and tasks based on students ability. The following strategies can be used;
Teacher-centered Teachers plan and carry out the task and the students will learn based on what is delivered by the teacher.


Student-centered Pupils are encouraged to participate actively in the activities planned either individually, small group or class. Material-centered Learning materials required have been compiled in accordance with the plans made. Pupils are given clear information about the activity needs to be conducted.

APPROACH

Class approach Class approach should be conducted so that students can participate and improve their self-confidence in a larger group activities. These activities are more appropriately carried out at the beginning and at the end of the study period. Group approach The concept of team teaching and learning based on changes in teacher-centered teaching strategies to student-centered strategies Small group whose members consist of students who are having the same or similar problem is formed. Teachers conduct lessons using teaching modules provided.


Individual approach Teachers focus on pupil individually to guide pupil in overcoming problems. Moreover, assistance from their peers can also be used if necessary.

TECHNIQUE

Process of delivering a planned teaching materials that have been selected to achieve an objective. The purpose of using a variety of techniques are used to attract, retain the attention and arouse the curiosity of students to achieve teaching objectives.

CROSS-CURRICULUM

KIA2M focus is to help students master basic Bahasa Melayu intensively. Thus the concept of teaching Bahasa Melayu across the curriculum must be carried out thoroughly, using the integration strategy. Subjects; Physical Education, Music Education and Arts Education integrated with skills in Bahasa Melayu.


Physical Education: The movement by using letters, syllables and words. Indoor games puzzle of letters, syllables, words. Music Education: Sing Songs - song of alphabet, spelling, children. rhythmic movement Rhythmic sounds
