Production and Operation Management


Operation management is a transformative process that turn factors of production including labour , financial capital, raw materials and energy into outputs of products and services. In the context of Mr. Brown, operations management is responsible for maximizing the overall efficiency in the bakerys entire production process in order to minimize production wastes (costs) and to satisfy customers, thereby ultimately achieving growth and profits in the market.

They produce products according to the demand Production process is carried out according to the season. In summer season they try to produce less because the cost of storage is high as the products tend to degrade early. They try to maintain proper EOQ level

Techniques
Mr. Brown uses MRP (Material Requirement Planning) technique of maintaining and planning of material. Main reasons for using MRP: Inventory reduction: MRP determines how many of components are needed and when, in order to meet the master schedule .MRP enables the manager to procure the component as it is needed, thereby avoiding cost of excessive inventory. Reduction in production and delivery times.

Employees
60% of employees are permanent staff and 40% are on a temporary basis. Qualification required for the employees are as follows: Cashier must be Graduate and having work experience. Supervisor must be graduate. Salesperson must be 10+2.
