Motion Analysis are aplicable to all SEMIs and FPSOs. AQWA software is used.

Mooring Analysis
Models are also developed using AQWA hydrodynamic package. Applicable to FPSOs and SEMIs. Line dynamics will be required by Petrobras under specific request. The Risers forces due current lines is analized by software SITUA.

Stability Analysis
Mesh Generator and SSTAB softwares are used for all the units, including SEMIs, FPSOs and JACK-UPs. These softwares were initialy developed by Petrobras and State University for emergency situations but is now available in all units for daily use. Validation of the SSTAB software is in progress by ABS Engineering in Rio.

Structural Analysis
Applicable to SEMIs, FPSOs and JACKUPs SEMIs are modeled using FEMAP and NASTRAN software FPSOs uses ABS Safehull Phase A and B JACK-Ups are modeled in software SACS

Special Structural Analysis

Special Analysis including fracture mechanics and non-linear analysis can be executed to guarantee best results. An example of integration between field data and model testing are tha fractures found in the horizontal brace, around the K-joint of a SemiSub , which resulted in the development of a refined local structural model of the unit in order to investigate the fractures and possible repair options. This analysis saved the unit from drydocking.

Emergency Services

Objective of this module is to provide immediate engineering information in case of accident of any of the units included into the contract. RAPID RESPONSE. Specific numerical models were developed for this service using several computer programs.

Emergency Services (cont.) Main focus is on the platform stability. FPSOs were modeled using HECSALV and SSTAB softwares. SEMIs and JACK-UPs used SSTAB. All models were or are under ABSClass approval. SSTAB was specially validated by the Bureau.

Emergency Manuals were prepared for easy understanding of emergency procedures. Loading conditions are informed by all Petrobras units and daily recorded for eventual use in an emergency situation. Close coordination with a salvage company contracted by Petrobras and with office and equipment located in Maca. Periodical drills that goes from simple celular phone call to a complete damage simulation.

New Drawings
The Kit Salvage is a set of drawings that concentrate all information deemed to be relevant in emergency situations of floating units. Intention is to save precious time when quick decisions become mandatory. Addresses mainly items of progressive flooding (vents, hatches, ventilators, watertight doors, sounding, sea chests, bottom plugs, bottom and side shell valves, etc.), mooring systems and emergency towing.
