Ultra Mega Thermal Power Plant

Power Scenario of India

Total Installed capacity in India Is 209.27 GW up to date 31-10-2012 .

Power generation through Thermal Power Plant is 140.20 GW . It is 70% of the Total Installed capacity .
For 2011-12 year ,a Base load energy deficit and peaking shortage was 10.3 and 12.9 % respectively.
The Energy Demand for 2016-17 is expected to be

218 GW.

India has Plan to capacity addition of 88000MW in 12th Five year plan . Growth of Power sector will be around 5.17 % In 12th five year plan . Thermal power Generation achieved a growth rate of 3.81 % in year 2010-11 .coal based generation growth rate was 3.99% in same year . For meeting the demand require of large generation unit by developing the Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPPs)

Salient Features of the Plant and technology used Large Size projects each capacity approximately 4000MW.
Based on Super critical technology with high level of fuel efficiency result in fuel saving and lower green house gas emission . Flexibility in unit size subject to adoption of specific minimum Supercritical Parameters.

Integrate Power Projects with dedicated captive coal blocks for pithead Projects . Costal Projects to use Imported coal Need 10000 Acre of land for establishing a UMPPs project Cost is around 4 billion USD .
