As a Generator E1 (induced emf in the armature) Load current, I = 50 kW / 250 V = 200 A E1 = V + IaRa + brush drop = 256.1 V.

Obviously, if this machine were to run as a motor at 400 rpm, it would have a back emf of 256.1 V induced in its armature. As a Motor E2 = V - IaRa - brush drop = 244.1 V (1 = 2, because Ish is constant)

Solution In this case, the motor speed is changed by changing the flux.

25-16. A dc series motor runs at 500 rpm on 230 V, drawing a current of 55 A. The resistance of the machine is 0.15 .
